Asia Business Directory listing is a scam, any victims?

I just received a letter from XXXXXX Business Pages and would like to share with all of you.
Dear Sir Madam,
To be included and to ensure your accurate entry for the 2007 edition, kindly verify your information on the second page.
Please check your company details and amend if necessary, once completed and in agreement with the proposed advertisement contract, kindly sign, affix your company chop and return to us by Mail or conveniently Fax :

The reason why I bring this up is that. It appears to be just a normal request to update and VERIFY Company's info. In actual fact, it is a an advertisement CONTRACT.
If you or your staff or colleague don't read the terms and condition properly and just chop, sign and fax back, then your company has entered into an Advertisement Contract of SGD4,250 + GST.
Just a reminder.

Just a side note (but a big side note) that they would tell you it is a free listing directory on the phone, as there were victims reporting the case here. Speaking of group suing the scammer, I think it depends on the size of the victim group and possibly it costs more for each to sue them than to pay the cancellation fee. The scammer knew about it too and that's why they are so cheeky to steal our money under the sun.

I think you can just ignore it since thats what your lawyer friend has advised.

No matter how widely exposed the scam is there will still be people falling for it. The ultimate solution is for the police to take action against the scammer to save the innocent public. But sadly the government hasn't taken any action against the scammer at the moment and thart's why the scam is so active here now. It is just like the MLM scam and it may take some time for the government to be aware of it. Too bad for the first few batches of victims as we have nowhere to seek help =(
But I believe that as long as we keep fighting the scammer and educating the public about the scam as much as possible, the day will soon come and the scammer will have their ass stick to the stone bed in jail. -
Actually this matter can be handled quite easily by our Government (more specifically the Department responsible for issuing the publishing license to these cons in the first place). Just rescind the license already issued to them and they have no choice but to refund whatever $$$ they have collected! Agree. But the government is no victim in the case. And I am sure the scam is carefully designed to con the public over the gray area of the law. The government may intervenue if 5% or more population is affected, just like the MLM scam =(

Deception scam.... a few people I know kena it. And when they never bothered to reply to the letter threatening legal action, nothing happened. The legal costs itself would be more expensive than the few K they want from you.

dont worry. dont pay. ignore their warning letters. it is not worth the hassle for them to sue u, besides if they do it, they blow their own cover. they rather hide in the cover then to expose themselves to the full glare of the media. hiring a lawyer to sue u is not cheap, it cost more than the money they demand from u.
