At 1st I dun believe, but they keep on convince me. Ask me to provide my Bank A/c no for them to bank in.
Then their captain LIU HUIMIN called, adv me on hw to get the money. she said i need to pay taxes of S$30,000/- to their HK government & a legal fees of S$5280/-. But taxes can be paid later while the legal fees need to be paid 1st in order to get the prize.
Another guy called WANG ZHICHENG told me to bank into this a/c:

I was so stupid & I went to pay it.
Then they asked another guy from HK Turf Club called ZHANG JIE to call me to verify my details. waited for an hr, he called me & claimed tht these prizes only entitled to their HK club members which costs S$25,000/- each. I told them I'm not member, then he said he had told his boss & allowed me to pay a temporary membership of S$10,000/- so to get the prizes.
I ALREADY REPORT IT TO POLICE, I KNOW ITS TOO LATE FOR ME TO GET BACK MY MONEY BUT I STILL WANT TO LET ALL PPL KNOWS....

I received this kind of call this morning.
They told me that I get second prize ($200,000 sing dollar).
Need to pay 2.6% of the prize in order to get the money.
They even asked me to browse the website ,www.hkhye.com
Believe me, they are really professional.
User account and password provided.
Entry pass id totally same as above - AK5058 (oh.......my god)
I almost believe them until I called my dad to check their background.
Another reason that i didnt pay the money was I dont have 5.2k in my saving account.

Hi all.. i got a call from this China lady, private number too. They told me got wat exhibition in Malaysia, then ask me to go. During the so call exhibition, they called me, they said i won 2nd prize of 50k. ASk me go down collect, i say i not free. I can heard the background like a exhibition background.
Then they keep calling me and i say i not free till today. I listen to them and they ask me for my bank accounts and NRIC etc.. i refused to give them and they gave me their website when i say i wanted to check it out.

I received a letter stating i've won $200,000+ USD in a spanish lottery. Very tempting... and the stamp is really from Spain -

same situation, macau venetian, 2nd prize. she has asked me to call her lawyer as to why my cheque for HK$1million hasnt arrived. i told her if you sent by registered mail you can track it what. but she said the lawyer sent it not her. so she wanted me to please call her lawyer. grudgingly, i did. he wants me to go to macau to collect the cheque. i said i have no time to go. he said, ok then u should tell the organisers. and i said, ok.
within 15 mins she called me again. asked me what transversed between the lawyer and i. my mandarin is really not so good, so i just said simply, he wants me to go to macau to collect the cheque but i cant go.
she is going to call me back soon!

Guess I am lucky today.
I just received the call from some company claiming that they are doing a survey on the mobile phones that i am using. The lucky part is that I am reading this forum as I take the call.
After giving my surname, I just hang up as it really puzzle me. Which local company will conduct a survey in CHINESE! If it's in English maybe I will still entertain them a bit.
If the company is based overseas, which company will make an overseas call just to conduct a survey. Something fishy is going on here! -

Oh i got the same call too, same number, AK5058.
The lady said that she is from san1 ling2 ke1 ji4 (can't type chinese here); and bloody hell called me when i was in Hong Kong roaming (on the saturday when she said they had the lucky draw, 2nd time calling me) and wasted me 3 dollars though i keep saying i'm hanging up cos i'm in hong kong, it doesn't pay to be too nice to such ppl!
And she just called me again, that's how i started googleing and found different pages saying that they're conning ppl, as expected.
And the lady said her name is zhang1 wen2 pei4;
And asked me to call the number: +0085230622669 to their hong kong office when i am free, cos i told them i'm not free during office hour.
She also said their sponsor is xiang1 gang3 ma2 you3 ci2 shan4 ji1 jing1 hui4 (Hong Kong Horse friends charity fund organization) which after i googled, found from other site talking about this fraud too. There is no such organization

Eh...you guys, lay off the threadstarter and stop telling him about how stupid he was. He already said he knows it was stupid to believe it, so stop making him feel worst.
The thread was started out of good intentions, to warn other people about this scam, not to cry about his mistakes. So just appreciate what he's trying to do for other people and not pour more salt into his wounds. -
I got a call yesterday too from a China's accent woman. Asked me if I speak mandarin. I ask her to identify herself. she say she from Malaysian Chinese newspaper doing survey. She told me something that their company is opening a new resort at Genting highland ... I know it is immediately a scam and I played along with her ..... I prolong her call until my boss walk in, I told I am not interested and hang up... I thought this quite obvious .. she is out to cheat ... I would had wanted to scold her but then she got my nos and I don't have hers'.. not to my advantage ...

I got this call from HONG KONG ELECTRON INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY LIMITED COMPANY too. The situation is exactly the same as jtlg. For those who wants to play the game along with them, you can call this number: 0085230777976 and look for Gao Shu Juan.
They say they will publish the events that was held in Malaysia and will also publish the names of the prize winners in Singapore and Malaysia paper. I doubt it will ever published. So anyone receive the call, be aware. -

122 hit by lottery scams this year
Victims lost a total of $1.5 million to fraudsters; police advise public to be more wary of such ruses

MORE than 100 people have been conned of a total of $1.5 million in lottery or lucky draw scams so far this year.
The smallest amount was $6 and the highest $353,000, said the police, which released a statement warning the public about such scams.
The 122 victims were duped into handing over money after receiving phone calls or SMSes claiming that they had won prizes in overseas lucky draws.
Since January, the police have received nearly 300 reports of such scams.
As such ruses take different forms and the tricksters change tactics regularly, the public should be careful, said the police.
The bottom line: If anything sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
This is how a scam typically works: A call would be made to the victim's mobile phone.
The caller, claiming to be a staff member of an overseas company, would pretend to be conducting a survey or to invite the victim to attend an event abroad. A few days later, the victim would get a phone call from the company again - this time informing him that he had won a lucky draw entered on his behalf.
Besides phone calls, another tactic used by the tricksters is to send SMSes to the victims' mobile phones, notifying them to call an overseas number to claim their 'prizes'.
But to claim their winnings, the victims are asked to make upfront payments of 'administrative' or 'processing' fees via remittance companies to China.
In some cases, local accounts were also used.
To make their claims look credible, the swindlers may even provide the victims with login IDs and website addresses of supposedly reputable overseas firms.
Inevitably, the victims who fall for the ruse would later find that there are no such lottery winnings.
After pocketing their money, the fraudsters would either make up more stories seeking further payment or just abscond with what they have collected.
The police said they take a stern view of such cases and have been working with overseas agencies to nab the culprits.
Since 2005, at least six people involved in get-rich-quick scams have been caught and jailed for 14 months to three years.
Anyone with information on these scams can call the Commercial Affairs Department on 1800-325-0000, or go to any police station.

I think these posts are very informative so I wana share my experience with the same "Venetian" scam.
I got some calls from these chinese speaking ppl over a super noisy background telling me watch the charity event on STARWORLD on the 23rd of Sep. I was at home then so I tuned in just to double check, of course there was no such thing lah..(not sure why they would name such a prominent channel when its pretty easy to tune into) anyways, knowing by then it was gona be a fraud thing I played along with them. When I mentioned that no such programme or advertising about the show had been done here (I read the papers a whole lot) the lady very smart lor, she told me what for they spend so much money call me all the way from macau just to cheat me. So I ended the call then by telling her that I was working and no time to watch or go down.
Think by then they decided to target me further because I told them I did not watch the show, so they assume Im just busy and ignorant. So..yesterday this lady called 杨梅斯 Yang Mei Si phoned me again tru a super noisy background, called to tell me that I won the 2nd prize also..yes..HK$1million. Honestly, just to hear that I won such a big amount whether tru anot is quite pleasing to the ears~ lol
Anyways, I questioned this lady alot and she even took the liberty to make small talk with me ask me if Im gona tell my parents, if im looking to spend a night at their hotel and even told me about the beginnings of the resort etc..their business etc. At the back of my mind I was really just thinking of how long they train themselves to remember such information just to scam ppl! Very 厉害 lor. lol
So I asked for email addresses, websites, web coverage, all she couldn't provide for me. But she really never gave up! She then proceeded to ask me for my IC no. Normally I would think its ok to give, anyways when u participate for lucky draws its always the mandatory thing to provide, but I was afraid they would use it to create fake ids etc with the number, so in the end I requested that they send me an official letter about the prize.
Perhaps now their running out of ideas because from others it seemed like they blatantly ask you to go to macau or pay them a sum of money for some tax thing. This one very clever, just tell me that they dun need to send me the letter to state that Iv won, just give them my address and they will send the cheque and I can bank it into HSBC, and just mail them back the receipt.
Now Im gauging that they'll call me back again sometime next week asking me if I've gotten their supposed cheque lol, I'm hoping to come up with something to scam them back too..or at least waste their time so they will have less time to target other weak folks. I think we shld make this a headline in the newpaper or something, coz at least it seems the bunch of us here are still net savvy enough to look up on such scams, but those who don't may just unknowingly fall into the circle of frauds.
Anyways, for those who also encountered the same thing or same person,
I recorded the number that was used to call me and the number (which is most likely fake too) for other's references.
