don't curse me hor - me haven't kana rob whether in JB or in Singapore ..... I just quote the story from ST and we just discuss lor .. talking about statitics, if we just take JB's population and compare, they may be higher but JB is just one town. If take the whole of Malaysia population, will the crime rate be lower ? I don't know the actual figure but for the sake of discussion, since Singapore is a country to be compared to in the first place. JB is not as bad as what many Singaporeans imagined it to be. The big difference is the efficiency of the police in Singapore as opposed to the police in JB...if commit a crime, police in Singapore will be out in full force to catch culprit, and being such a tiny dot of a country, and an island in that matter, not easy for criminals to escape. As for the police in JB...they like to look the other way. Moreover, a lot of violent crimes in JB were committed by illegal immigrants, who have no immigration records and once they escape back to their own country, they know they are no way they are going to be caught. So we should be thankful to our efficient police force and our vigilant custom and immigration that prevent bad elements from coming into our country.
We do have violent crimes in Singapore too, mind you, murders, rape, etc. Remember the porn-freak beast that raped and sodomised the China girls? Or the serial rapist who even attacked and raped a 60 year old aunty? -
precisely the point ... so how can we say JB crime are worst than ours ? I am sure there are many crimes not reported. I am just wondering if Singapore is as safe as reported ?? I had heard of robbery at my area ... I mean you always hear so-and-so got rob ... but we are not there to withess it and therefore we often do not take it too seriously... I had some other experience with our police and the way thing is done, I cannot see how we can be safe .... If the media decides to emphasize on certain points, how to get a second opinion or more real information?
Generally, I do believe crime rates have increased for Singapore and Malaysia.
This is driven by the increase of people coming in and also the increase in accessibility.
Bottomline, try not to be a target by employing common sense. -
im quite surprised that the victims still will ask for i/c back.. thot they'd be too scared to do anything at all. =X

SINGAPORE : A travel agent in Little India was on his way to the bank when he was robbed of S$125,000 on Monday morning.
Police said the man was walking along Sungei Road between Perak Road and Jalan Besar when at least three men pushed him into the bushes.
His attackers were described as having dark complexion and between 30 and 40 years old.
One of them was wearing a beige-checked long sleeve shirt.

our government will not let SG become JB, cause if they do, their pay will take a cut... and might even not be able to win the next election.
