Yes there is a verse stated the above, its just a matter of looking it up. regardless of what religion, you are supposed to be kind and treat your brothers and sisters well. Why? the human race was 1st started by Adam and Eve. Eve gave birth and so on so forth. Along the way, few holy books were brought down from heaven to earth. Mind you, the Quran is not the only book we muslims are supposed to read. it is the Quran that is the last and final holy book to be brought down to earth.Originally posted by Kachui:But I thought Islam does not allow its followers to convert to other religions; so if you are born into the religion, you are supposed to be a muslim forever, at least that is what I heard, although I am sure it is possible and easier to leave the Islam religion in non-islamic countries.
I know it is against the law to preach other religions to the muslims in Malaysia.
But in the recent events, we are seeing even educated professionals are getting into this terrorist acts.Originally posted by silversurfer_41:Malaysia and Indonesia esp, they are alot more protective towards Islam because majority of them are Muslims. Only a small group actually believe in equality amongst the religions. must remember, most of them are still living in kampongs and their education system is a bit slow. yes some are working in KL so on and so forth, but it still boils down to education.
Now, you've said that you're a muslim. so these are words coming from your fellow muslim.Originally posted by silversurfer_41:i was actually offended by some of the comments being made here, though i cant provide actual evidence here. it is up to individual whether he or she wants to assume or get the facts right.
I'm a moderate muslim. I myself have questions about my own religion. but one thing that i will never question is my own faith. faith and teachings and impressions are totally diferent meanings. the verse, Islam should be the only religion in the world, is totally incomplete. forumers here should read more in depth what it means rather than jump to conclusions in just a verse.
if you all must know, Muhammad PBUH has always been patient eventhough being provoked. He hid in a mountain when the Quraisy pple are looking to kill him. never in his life he wanted to kill anyone. he will pray for those even who disliked him so that they will be granted heaven.
we don't hate jews, we just dislike the way things are carried out by them. hate and dislike are 2 different meanings. do you think by killing them is a better option? read the Quran properly before you pose a question. In Islam, you are not even allowed to kill an ant without a valid reason! they are God's creature.
Why do Muslims back then killed pple? it is because pple criticized Allah and his religion. They don't mean to kill but only to defend. and if you must know, there is a story about this. Moreover, if a Muslim happened to slay a person, he must bear all responsiblites that the person left. the person might have a family, he must educate, provide necessaties to them.
in Islam, you have the right to choose the path in which you want to be. be a non-muslim if you want, but still you have to respect Islam and other religions you chose to be in faith with.
They don't mean to kill but only to defend

I think I should try to clarify something. Muslims do not kill people who criticise the religion. In fact, muslims are told to try and enlighten, NOT BY FORCE, to those who do not believe and make them believe.Originally posted by Kachui:![]()

I thought "Allah is great"...if he is, why does he need his followers to kill other fellow human beings who don't believe in him or criticize him and his religion? Criticisms are just words...can Allah, who is all powerful and wise, be hurt by mere words from mere humans?
Now, I understand that.Originally posted by simnatic:I think I should try to clarify something. Muslims do not kill people who criticise the religion. In fact, muslims are told to try and enlighten, NOT BY FORCE, to those who do not believe and make them believe.
Now, they are not told to attack because Allah is being criticized, but in fact, it is said that Muslims must defend Islam if Islam is being ATTACKED in a way that maybe the Muslims are forced to convert or such. Other things, such as the war against americans cannot be considered as valid religious attacks as they have not done anything against Muslims, in fact, muslims live and practise religion freely in their country. Problems such as those in Southern Thailand, and America are, as said earlier, brought about by Organizations such as Al-Qaeda, JI who use the religion as an excuse to stir up feelings, cause conflicts and they gain the profits. Islam does not allow harming civilians such as those in 9/11, Bali Bombings as they have not done anything to attack Islam...excuse me if what im saying is not clear, really hard to convey this message.
Hey, dude, I know Muslims are not asked to kill people who criticize the Islam religion. I am just pointing out the fallacy of silversurfer_41's rationale for the millitant muslims' violence against other people.Originally posted by simnatic:I think I should try to clarify something. you have to look at history. israel is sort of an artificial state, formed smack in the middle of the arab world...furthermore, it's formation was not agreed upon by the countries in the region.Instead of trying to resolve it further by diplomacy, the arab israeli war occured...what can one expect?Originally posted by mhcampboy:Now, I understand that.
But i do not understand why major world islamic countries....saudi arabia... indonesia... malaysia... qatar.. and the rest in the arabian peninsula... to really unite and DENOUNCE it publicly?... they seemed to be very quiet abt this issue....
heck... even mahathir openly hated israel....
I'm very sure you didn't write the following.Originally posted by thehappybunny:correct me if i'm wrong.
Anyway, the Meccan and Medinan revelations doesn't abrogate each other, they add up to a whole, though the Medinan verses tend to be more specific as a response against a particular event. It really ain't about the Jews nor do all latter revelations regarding Jews spoke bad of them.
In the Qu'ran, theres 2 main sets of revelations, the Mecca revelations and Medina revelations. The Mecca revelations spoke well of Jews and praised them and basically were trying to get the Jews to feel good, so that there would be more converts.
However, when the Jews mocked Islam and set out to get Muhammad, he made the night journey to Medina and from that point onwards, all revelations spoke bad of Jews. They even accused the Jews of corrupting God's word.
A party of them (Jewish Rabbis) used to hear the word of Allah (The Taurat), they then used to change it knowingly after they understood it.
-Surah 2 : 75; CF. verses 76-79
That is just plain outrageous.
Trendz, you obviously have no time or no patience in reading the facts whatsoever. yea sure there's an internet, but what some said internet is full of misleading stuff.Originally posted by trendz:Now, you've said that you're a muslim. so these are words coming from your fellow muslim.
BUT..
do you know what the f*ck have you just said?!
(check out highlighted red) it's BLOODY contradicting. and what's more, judging from (the second part which i've highlighted in red), you've underlined the underlying fact which i've said in my previous posts.
sorry, but people from all over the world do not condone killings just to defend your own religion. thus, we do not respect those kind of motherf*ckin' bullcrap, nonsensical teachings & religion. how do you expect people to respect you when you kill to defend your religion? moreover, it's such a lame excuse and a totally evil thing to do.
