Islam is misunderstood thanks to the efforts of these people. For example, not many outsiders know actually no-one can suka suka declare jihad. A jihad can only be declared by a proper, worldwide Islamic authority. No one government, not even Iran, fits the criteria. -

Nope, verses cannot be changed. Especially the Holy Qu'ran. It is the Word of God and even a translation doesn't qualify it as the Qu'ran. What happens is that the verses are interpreted through the ages by Islamic scholars (Islam has no proper clergy system like Catholics).

You know when I took World Religions as a subject the only references to 'holy war' was made in relation to Islam. Although it was a brief discourse through the major religions of the world my lecturer focused more on ecumenism and how all religions are interconnected in some way
