but if your salary is high, there are reasons to hide it as well...Originally posted by Guardx:If your salary is so little there is no point hiding lor.
do u eben knw dat dis behaviour is beri detestable?Originally posted by mochou:If close enough, sure it's not a problem to ask.
If not very close, i also asked and i get my answer.
Just dont ask directly "how much you getting" and dont expect a exact figure(though some may tell you exact figure).
Estimate his/her salary first, then base on the way he/she spends, you can hint something to "ask".
Like "How must is the loan for your car? add on petrol and parking, it's gonna use up half of your salary, right?
Or guess his/her salary to see the response like:
"I heard your company pay quite well, every month you take home aound 4K right?"
Depend, when you are interviewing a person with regard to loan or application of credit, it is a must to ask your customer his pay structure.Originally posted by january:as per above. I find it strange that this is a rude question.
what is so angry abt people knowing our salary. i understand one may feel embarrased if he does not earn much, but angry? it seems weird. I personally find it strange. Its not as if you want to bring ur secret to the coffin. I can understand if a person says "paiseh, i prefer not to tell" for personal and privacy reasons.Originally posted by browniebaobao:depends on how close are u with that person...
my jiemeis ask me, and i was open about it...
but then i realize they will go around telling ple
"my fren xxx's starting salary is $xxxx.. the other fren got $zzzz...
wah.. i hope i can get $zzzz too"
so ever since my increment, i nv tell them how much im earning.

Yes, I certainly find it absolutely rude!
Because a person's earning capacity is a very private and confidential thing. That's why pay slips issued by the HR always come sealed!
Asking a person his salary is the equivalent of asking that man how long his c0ck is or a women, how large her b00bs are...... RUDE!!
its sensitive becos we heard some people getting angry it and due to past habits of older generation and so subconsicously when we ask people or being asked about salary, our mind reacts with discomfort also.Originally posted by selfobliged:to me it's not rude...it's just a sensitive question.

Of course it's rude! Why so nosy? Salaries are confidential. You are not suppose to discuss or compare especially if working in the same company. Firstly it will stir up unhappy and dissatisfied sentiment in colleagues especially the other party gets more when that person has been working shorter period than the other one. Big companies have this rules that workers are not suppose to compare or speak out how much they earn. If they do the company has a right to terminate them.Originally posted by january:as per above.
