and also how to stay calm with time running away, and knowing you are taking EXAMS.....Originally posted by akinos:if PSLE is tough, and O Level is tougher. Then what is A Level? Machiam lagi jia lat?
nowadays hor.. kids are having a life like handing them a silver platter, maths is not about how u answer the questions. it's a test on understanding and how u apply concept in. if that guy's son cant do it(even though he is from a "top" class), this means that the son is not being exposed to other kinds of problem sums.
IMHO, I du believe that though the PSLE is only a small milestone in the academic life, or even in life itself. But it is arguably the most important exam in a student's life.Originally posted by a_splash:bright future not determine from PSLE bah??? study is a life long process....it is not just about get As i believe....there are much more to learn....
Everybody's future is bright, not just his son.Originally posted by ouchtthurt:Firstly I believe that the father has all the right to worry about his son. It really hurts to see your son coming home crying becoz of a supposedly "unfair" paper. The son has a bright future after all, judging from what he said.
But really, every now and then the papers will get tough, same for the Os and As. Its really not in anyone's jurisdiction other than the SEAB's or Cambridge Syndicate's. Its hard to suck it up, but in the end theres really no point complaining.
Lastly, I really wonder how many pple the father went to collect his information from. He did mention GEP students, and he did use many sweeping statements. I believe that of course th teachers and his friends will have to say its tough, judging from his quite pompous demeanor, who dares to rub salt into his egoistic wound. (Other than in sgForums)
Should have been that way long ago...Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Recent year papers have gone from static to dynamic.

1) Mental torture? If this is mental torture, Singapore will fall when these people enter the work force.
2) How the hell do you give people confidence?
3) If these people can't face an exam paper, how will they "face their future with a lion's heart"?
yesOriginally posted by kenn3th:Frankly someone tell me if u study your psle by totally relying on the text book itself, do u think you will score well?
actually one almost need to grow up with the maths syllabus in order to do the questions.Originally posted by ShrodingersCat:err.. ooops.. actually i felt that maths is getting more and more difficult.
one of the biggest reason is that it requires a lot better comprehension in terms of language, and inference.
My friend posted up his neighbour's daughter's Primary 5 maths questions on his blog.. and not many of us could solve it without using algebra - using only the current methods of 'trial and error', drawing models and etc.
