most ppl play 3 fans(tai) or 5 fans(tai)..
but the way they count fan(tai) is diff.. -

fyi, 13 odds if u ask me, is not the most difficult to gao.
13 lian huan is the most difficult to gao, if u ask me.
requires same suit of each different tiles, except u need 3 1s, and 3 9s.
u listen for 9 cards of that suit then. requires u to get all cards yourself also. u ask me, probablity of getting this hand is more difficult than 13 odds.
13 odds, requires u to get all different tiles, but the above requires you to get 3 1s and 3 9s of same suit.
however, i wld not do 13 odds even if i have 10 odds different tiles at first.
u need at least 11 to make a decent probability.
i have seen ppl gao 13 odds, but not the above. -

however, 13 wonders changes your luck upon gaming. once, i was losing $600 and then game 13 wonders. at the end i won $600 (reversal of $1200). another time, i game 5 doubles in my 1st game and 13 wonders on my 3rd. at the end i lost $200, can u believe tat?

which means other players have a chance to feed u the card. which increases your chance somehow..
unless the rules for 18 luo han is to feed all cards yourself, an gang..

for 18 luo han, you need to get at least 4 sets of 3 of a kind and hope that your opponents dun throw your 4th card too early. in fact, most if not all ppl chose to game rather than waiting for the illusive 4th cards to gong. -
