can you stand on the left side of escalator?

so much publicity about telling people to stand on your left at the escalator by default and stand on the right only if you wish to 'cut the queue'.
So cannot understand why there are still many idots who stand on the right side of the escalator and block others from moving up/down.
once one person stops on the right side of the escalator, it 'hogs' the crowd.
Pls lah, everyone be more conscious when you use the escalator. It just take one idot to cause blockage. Guess many know what I mean and feel the same. -
They are copying Japan escalator style.

i noticed that ppl oni do that during morning rush hours and evening rush hours (when ppl going to work and going home) and applies to town area stations only.
other times and in heartland stations, ppl will stand left, right, up, down, hugging, kissing, fondling butt...........
shopping centres oso no such rule. -
ya they dont know how to automatic
always see 2 aunties type stand at both side then how to pass? i purposely stomp down the escalator hard to let them know there's some people behind, and sometimes these aunties still dont realise

japan very auto enough, even on the path people can make way automatically without being asked to excuse
over here no leh, rush over like in those over crowded orchard somerset mrt then no choice, all rush like bees impossible to make way. -

aiyah sometimes stand on right is unconscious one lor....cos before got tell ppl to stand left no really such habit.....
as for they only standing left during rush hours and not at off peak times that's ok... -

security cameras can identify the face lor, found guilty may be charged up to court, fine of less than $1000 or jail term of less than 5 yrs, or both.

think MRT station and all places with escalators need more publicity in all languages to create more awareness. See a lot of uncle and aunties blocking the way. Same applies to youngsters like us.
Pls lah, be more automatic abit. Be more civic-minded. -

wat i dun like is those people one big group then crowd one whole area on the escalator
say asscuse me they oso dun wan to move one
but mi will oni say asscuse me many times until they move and if im in a bad mood, mi will give pple a shove when i walk past also
escalator takes a few seconds to go up or down. they cannot shut up for a while meh? -
and dont be lazy.. there are stairs which u can use.. n stop blaming those people who stand on the right side.. BLAME ON YOUR LAZINESS!
