It is sad indeed... however the worst thing for mediacorp is tat it only cares about raking in money and not about the general wellbeing for the audience.
Wat r the shows I hate ? The stupid shows made by beauty centers. I think they really just verbally abuse how ugly the girls r then woo haa some beauty centers become their savior and make them become the prettiest things on earth. Another stupid shows r made by MLM and they bullsh!t a lot of crap on TV. They r not documentaries and offered a lot of advertisement shit and pretend to be documentaries. They r Sell-a-vision. And u know wat is the worst thing ? TCS also show documentaries after tat show ! Isn't tat misleading to the public ? Telling them something completely false then mixing up with some real thing in between ? I think tis is unhealthy -
the worst thing is, they complement the bad, reused plot family dramas with hell lot of singing/acting and watever bull* competitions..zzz everytime also see same thing..zzzzzzzz my tv is now perma off liao except for epl nights..

yea , my family TV used to be on from 6.30 to 10.30
but nowaday , no one bothers to on the TV , on tv liao oso sian
My father also said nowaday show not worth watching , on liao waste electricity.
Actually the best TV period is the time where Channel U is created. Mediacorp knows got rival liao , so there a competition between 2 firm giving higher quality shows . When Channel U was bought over by Mediacorp , no more rival , the whole firm start to slack , coz they already have the whole media's monopoly
So i believe the best way to produce a good quality programme is to wait for someone bold enough to start a firm to fight with mediacorp (no give up style) -

The reason why last time they could produce better shows is because they hire producers & script writers from HK e.g. Jiang Long. This is why they can also produce many wu xiang pian / dramas related to china history e.g. Dao Ri Ying Xiong Zhuan, Shao Nian Ying Xiong etc.
Now this group of foreign talents is in China or back in HK, our local producers & script writers cannot match their standard, only know how to write about family quarrel, neighbours quarrel etc.

Well, I personally think is because local directors / producers dont really know much about ancient china. In fact, they dont know much about china's history and culture. That's why they cant produce such drama.
Another possibility is that they want to cut cost. Wu Xia drama more expensive to produce. Drama on family theme cheaper right? Actor wear singlet, shorts, hair messy can act liao. -

i remember last time i used to wait in front of the tv by 7pm and 9pm, anticipating the shows to start...but now totally no motivation to watch...
i still remember some of the best drama series i have watched before...
