I don't blame him. He was under orders to drop the bomb; either that it'd just be another pilot who'd have to do it. Plus, it's not as if it was some mindless bombing; it definately did save Allied and Japanese lives, should they have raided the main island. If there's anyone that should feel guilty, it should the President and/or the military generals for not carefully thinking through the possibilities.
However, one has to remember that it was the Japanese who had the ambition of conquering a large part of Asia, and it was them who raged war against America in the first place. The USA had also given ample opportunities for Japan to surrender. Why not blame the Japanese leaders at that time for inflicting so much pain on their citizens with their stupid decisions? -
Blame Tojo for having the chance to end the war and refusing to do so.
I'd throw Emperor Hirohito into the blame pit as well. There is no way he didn't know of the atrocities committed in his name. -

actually i dont mind the bombing if it can help to stop the war.
but mayb the americans shldn't use atomic bomb. the radiation from the atomic still cause much suffering to later generations after he war.

actually, the A-bomb may have costed a lot of jap lives, but it also saved a lot of other asian's lives.
in terms of bombing, there's no better weapon to use than the A-bomb, cos' other bombs like grenades or hydrogen bombs won't make japan scared and japan won't surrender.
i can tell you that if USA tomorrow drop the next-generation nuclear bomb on iraq, all terrorists in iraq will suddendly all go quiet. -

If the bombing had to be done to "save" more lives, then I do not think that there was anything wrong with it. I ain't sure of what happenend then, but I am not siding against the Americans nor the Japanese.
Just that, maybe they should have drop the RAGE virus instead.

actually, from what i know, H-bomb is just about normal explosion and i think the explosion is bigger than the A-bomb, but it doesn't have the insane side-effects of the A-bomb, which is the actual trump card of the A-bomb.
H-bomb is just like a super-mega TNT bomb with crazy explosive power, and A-bomb trade-off a little of the H-bomb's explosive power with it's signature after-effects to the human body for generations to come, which is scarier.
also, the A-bomb's release of radioactive particles is so terrible that it caused the sky to rain concentrated acid rain after the explosion.
