it is not as if the innocent japs deserve to die, it is the result of their government actions that led to the sufferings. Anyway, the japs never regret their actions, do they?Originally posted by 798:so if one day our government put us in a dire situation n offend our neighbours, do we deserve to die just becos 66.6% support our government?
their grandparents should! but not the younger generations as they do not know the history.Originally posted by jacqn:it is not as if the innocent japs deserve to die, it is the result of their government actions that led to the sufferings. Anyway, the japs never regret their actions, do they?

why r u so anti-jap? r u from china?![]()
Same here. I've heard stories at my grandma's lap. And yet, she has no hatred towards the country as a whole. You know what this world needs the most? A little bit of forgiveness from everyone.Originally posted by jacqn:because the young ones never knew about the real history!! i am singaporean. I know how my grandparents suffered during the war.
fyi, during the period of ww2, japanese religion dictated that the emperor was God (or to that extent). and thus the decree of the emperor to take over the world was a decree from God and any other person on earth that did not listen to the emperor of japan (ie God), does not deserve to live and thus this would mean that onli japanese were under God and the rest of the world shld just die.Originally posted by mhcampboy:They got a "mandate from heaven" to go ahead with wars....
No religion on earth have ever apologised for causing wars in the name of their god...
So in japan case.. .maybe partly due to their religion also?![]()
i admit that we should forgive, its just that i do not understand the way jap thinking. to this day they did not admit history and mistakes their ancestors had done. so how do we forgive?Originally posted by SturmDerSchatten:Same here. Right, 798, so tell us, if you were the CiC of the american forces, what would be your move? With the Imperial Navy crippled, and your own fleet at Japan's door, what would you do?Originally posted by 798:it doesnt mean i am pro-jap or side anyone.
the case here is u dun solve the problem by bombing other country to cause innocent life to be lost.
n tell pple u have no regrets after dat. what have these civilians had done to deserve this for their ruler's selfish act?
i agree wif u when war comes, innocent pple will suffer. i agree dat the japan is wrong to rewrite history.Originally posted by Croaking_Toad:Right, 798, so tell us, if you were the CiC of the american forces, what would be your move? You must be one of the luckier ones who doesn't have relatives (parents and/or grandparents) who lived through the hardships of WWII. Most of us here do. Is it just an objective view that you have when you hear such stories or view such exhibits in a museum?
Do you feel it's right for the Japan education system to whitewash their own history of the second world war? I will certainly feel sad if our younger generation feels that we can't learn anything from the horror of wars or history. History does repeat itself.
The first thing to go in war is innocence.
But would you, as the commander of the allied forces, send your troops to japanese soil knowing very well that you may lose a sizable amount of troops to a cornered population. A population who feels that its emperor is godlike and ferocious in its nature. Facing a cornered enemy is tricky as that's when they will definitely fight till the last man standing.Originally posted by 798:i agree wif u when war comes, innocent pple will suffer. i agree dat the japan is wrong to rewrite history.
since the U.S armies r so strong n the japanese soldiers r at losing end. the U.S armies should go one-on-one wif them instead since they got more number.
the japanese r cruel to our fore-parents by brutal killings and pow, we all cannot deny dat. but wat the americans do by planting 2 bombs on the country were not much difference comparing to japanese's sin. until now the two states of japan cannot recover from the impact.
but the thing is, has American continue to go full scale, it has been estimated that they would lose a million soldiers. And fatality rate among the civilians throughout the rest of asia under Japan's control amounts to 200000 per month.Originally posted by 798:i agree wif u when war comes, innocent pple will suffer. i agree dat the japan is wrong to rewrite history.

I think most of us here are fortunate enough not to have to go through the turmoil of WWII. At most we only hear of stories from parents or grandparents. Indeed the generation who went thru the japanese occupation do not exhibit hatredness , but forgiveness and bitterness... we'll never know. Most of it are brought to the grave. Also can't be helped if the bitterness is passed down the generationOriginally posted by SturmDerSchatten:Same here. I've heard stories at my grandma's lap. Nope, if he didn't carry out his orders, the USAF would have continued bombing the whole of Japan back to Stone Age via incediary and conventional bombing.Originally posted by hiphop2009:if he dun carry out the order, he would be punished.!
