for students too, 10% of wad u get
then got the rise and build thingy, which they aiming to get 20million++ at least.

I guess individuals who partake of this practice of giving 10 per cent of their salary to the churches will argue that they are doing so out of gratitude for the bounty God has bestowed on them. So it is natural for us to give part of our gains back to God. I think to the common man, this notion of giving back in gratitude is reasonable. Even non-believers or adherers of god-centered religions can understand and appreciate the notion of gratitude.
However, the issue of giving n gratitude is an issue in itself, if we examine the practices exclusively. It is only when we factor it in with other considerations such as where does the money go to? Or who are the ones giving the money? Who are the ones benefiting from it? and at whose expense? That is where many ethical and moral concerns are raised.
This is not a new issue. Martin Luther, the Protestant reformer, took issue with the church's practice of giving out indulgences for money or property. Of course, Luther's concerns were more faith-based rather than the objective ethical concerns that we share at present. However, like Luther's much detested indulgences, people give materially as a material value of something essential to our human existence - salvation. If we digress further it will be linked with the basic human psychological need for security and identity.
Thus, can giving out of one's pocket for such a basic human need unethical - no. What about those who head these institutions and supply the needs? I will argue - no. Afterall, you can't wake up one day after watching that advertisement which induced u to buy that 'savy' handphone which everyone is talking about and call the handphone manufacturer and ask for ur money back because you felt cheated? -
Actually when they give their 10%,its like showing God that i am not greedy and i am always readily to give 10% to God and thats what God wanted

chc is a very stigmatised church amongst conservative christians like myself. we shy away from it. the only thing i know abt these kinds of churches is that they say if you believe in Jesus, you will have a prosperous life, full of blessings etc etc...

Some church are like so call 'flamming' chc cause of it 'rock' type church -
i personally give 10% of my allowance every week to my church, no one forces me. but if i ever get the feeling i am forced to tithe, i wont. i'll just give my 10% to charity.
