when i said this sentence, i intend to mean that in the past, when there are more standard card users than plat card users, it was prob easier to get into the call centre, thru the dedicated plat line. nowadays, since it lowered the min income, more turn to the hotline and harder to call in liao. how i know? cos my sister is a plat card owner. at the same time, being a standard card user currently, i am just looking for a card that gives me more reward points for my overseas trips/ shopping etc. That doesnt mean i look down on standard card users rite? -

that of cos tends to be true. look at the reward points given by the Black Card. standard cards..$5 = 1 point. Black card..$5= 2 points, and when purchase at certain botiques, one get 4points. this is just one of it.
Plat card users get concierge services, higher travel insurance etc..i believe all these are perks rite? -

Those points are redeemable for cheap meaningless gifts. Those who have such cards don't give a fcuk bout the reward points, they have the money to buy what they want.
My dad have one of those plat cards (forget which bank) which charge no monthly or annual fee if he uses the card at least twice a month. Now that is a credit card worth having. -

If I were you, I would go for the card with the lowest interest rates plus without annual fees. Screw the perks of platinum visa or amex titanium black. They are just not worth it unless you are a millionaire.
5000 dollars per year - I can think of much better things to do with 5000 dollars per year than pay for the privilege of holding a Amex black titanium card. urm 5000 dollars is enough to buy you perks every year without the need of some card. -
I prefer to pay cash. The only reason why I have a credit card is for emergencies or interstate transactions beyond 1k only because of my debit card set limit . Otherwise no point paying bank interest.
If your father is rich and willing to pay your bills , go for amex titanium black then. If your family is not rich and you are earning 50k-70k per annum to pay your own bills - it is just not worth it.
The key thing is to make sure that you can at least pay off the limit of your credit card in 2 months. Banks love to compound interest daily on your credit card.
