Usually people only use 1 or 2 bookmarks only mah, you sell so many at one go of course people will think twice whether or not is worth to fork out so much or not. As a consumer, buying 8 bookmarks is not practical at all.
I suggest you to sell individually. Since you sell in a set of 8 for 50 cents each, if you sell individually you might wanna consider selling at 60 cents each.
Do not be afraid some of the bookmarks will be more in demand than the others. Look at it as diversifying your product and catering to a wider range and to different tastes of consumers. -

I'm not an expert in marketing, but I tink positioning is important. Someone mentioned abt the incoming CNY. Perhaps TS can do some designs related to it?
Did u say u sell it for 50cent each? I wun know how you get your numbers, but at 50 cent, the profit margin may be very low, and in fact may not even cover the cost of u doing the actual selling.
People perceived Quality as expensive. I dunno about bookmarks, but if u can do up something that gives people that it is extremely top quality, they may pay more for it. Example diaries that you buy at Popular bookstore may range say $4 to $20, but the cost of producing it is really not that far away. The retail price difference may be $4 vs $20, but the actual diff may be one is a plastic cover, one a lookalike-leather cover.
However I give credit to TS, as I feel bookmarks are extremely hard to sell. I personally dun use any (much less specially going out to get any). I'll just slot any scrap paper/brochure that i can reach.
End of the day, if u'r tinking of high volume selling, u might wanna liaise with bookfairs. One-to-one selling, tink a bit time-consuming ahhhh.
