I had teachers who laughed at my mistakes in my face... And because of that, I learned my mistake... worst that happened was it hurt my pride... does a hurt pride cost as much as years spent trying to become a teacher...?

I never heard about that... where you get it...?
1)The teacher is definitely lack of professionalism. Shouldnt post students work online unless he has real good things to say - even so, he has to seek his students' permission - intellectual property. In this case, he has done BIG harm to student's pride.
2)Stompers - a bunch of nothing to do, untrained, reporters wannabe.

I am sorry you had to meet such a teacher that had to resort to this to make you learn.
However, there is a difference between laughing at your face
and annoucing your mistakes to the world?
I'm not sure if he was trained to be a teacher - he was relief teaching and you don't need to be trained. But if in spite of all the training - he does not learn how to be sensitive to who he is teaching - then I tihnk his training is pointless.

It is not only pride la, you have to consider the self-esteem of the kids? Kids' confidence can be really vulnurable at this age. Not everyone learns when someone laughed in his or her face.
i think the teacher really too much already...
wat if those students who wrote those compos he posted actually read his blog? they will feel hurt and humiliated...and might eventually hate english and deem themselves as failures.
to a student, a teacher's words carry certain weight.
till today, i remember my maths teacher told me in my face 'you are a failure!'.. when a student is not doing well at a subject, a teacher's job is to guide him and correct his mistakes instead of mocking at him.
currently there are too many teachers who are really lacking in the passion/patience to teach...probably coz students nowadays aren't that easy to teach. I believe we have all read too many news about teachers (the black sheeps), that i feel that MOE should be more stringent when it comes to recruiting teachers. It seems that many of them do not have the right qualities/ethics to teach.

furthermore, as I said, the students we never idnetified... its because of the KPO that the school was identified... and when he retracted his post, someone screenshot his blog... its sad, like a lot of people want him to lose his job...
I continue discuss another time... got to sleep...

regardless of whether the kids were affected or not, it does not absolve the teacher's inappropriate behaviour.
does not mean that if the kids more thick skinned means what the teacher do is right.

I think even if he is not sacked, he should resign.
Primarily because if he cannot even handle basic job requirements of helping students improve academically without griping about it, then how can he handle the various other aspects of the job?
I have many friends who are teachers.. and sure, they gripe about their kids' behaviour, pressures in school, frustrations with students who unwilling to learn.
but where got teacher gripe about their own students' weak academic abilities!? Or he only prefers to teach elite schools where all the kids write beautifully?

Some guy same church of the teacher was jealous and hence posted it on EDMW.
Some kaypoh EDMWer thinks that the teacher was wrong then go send it in.
Hence now all papers.
i saw this in newpaper today and i was like wtf? isn't that what i saw in EDMW few days ago?
There is a difference in public humiliation for disciplinary purposes (Standing in front of the whole hall for fighting with other students, etc) and public humiliation for his own enjoyment.
he is from my primary school. lol. but I can't really remember who he is.
some teachers face alot of stress and not everyone of them have the same mental capacity to take it. you nvr know what your teachers may be talking about inside their staff room, about how stupid/foolish or wadever their students are. this particular teacher just chose to blog it, in which he suay enough lo.
Nothing is really private nowadays. ![]()
serve the teacher right :)
he deserved it. the student are only p3 and he should correct them instead of mock.
if the student are sec 3 instead, i think i pity him. but not when the student are only p3. he deserved it.
btw, he is not sacked not for the cause that he mocked at his student.

his birthday... 12.11.87. haha he is just a 21 year old kid straight out of army. That explains his immaturity.
He was probably in his 1st year of teaching as a relief or a contract teacher... so, not much harm done to his rice bowl. He just has to find himself another job.
what is NIE doing?? training cuckoos from goondos?
Stupid teacher.. tsk, tsk, tsk...

The teacher is mocking at the students for the sake of fun. It is as bad as laughing at someone who has just fallen down, made more despicable because of the age difference.

If no action is taken towards the teacher, many will follow suit...Doesn't mean if the kids can take it, teachers should continue to laugh at their mistakes. They come to school not to be laughed at, but to learn. How to learn when the environment is not condusive?
I am sad.
I am sad because the relief teacher got sacked for something that is blown out of proportion.
I am sad because the 'punishment' meted out is too harsh and not forgiving.
I am NOT related to the relief teacher nor am I against anyone here...but here's mho.
Imagine Jay was chatting to 'Lucas', his good fren, about his work in a kopitiam. Little did he know that some ramdom stranger who happened to be slacking at the same kopitiam was snooping around, overheard and recorded their conversation. The stranger then reported it to the mgt and Jay got sacked for breach of corp confidentiality. And all the while, Jay did not mention actual names.
And then Jay case got aired in Stomp and some peeps in forums sayed Jay deserved it - that he should have known better...that if Jay was professional, he should not be chatting to his good fren Lucas about his work in a public area like kopitiam...and imply Jay did not deserved his freedom of speech and expression....and Jay got sacked without a STRONG reason is actually reasonable....
Sad...
