I wonder why MOD never did a survey to ask all guys who had gone throught NS what they think of NS? Whether is it a waste of time to them causing them to lag behind in career Or whether is it meaningful path of life for them to become a real man by running over mountain and washing toilet. -
I agreed with you but not only for further study abroad. Singapore lacking of talent has forced herself to allow more than 25% foreigners worker in the whole population. The reason being our pple is diminishing (the greying population - we have less than 75% of local pple now and it's still declining). Our standard of living are forced higher by these virtual increased in population. Now the government is jumping around to find a solution urging pple to support their campaign. but what's the use? It's the consequences of urbanisation. What's the use of all this NS defence when our population is dying from inside? How many more male will be left to defend our country when more and more local migrate oversea? how many of the PR males are willing to convert to singapore citizenship to serve NS?

But not all NS men have the kinda of "if war comes,we sure die" attitude and it is the rest of the NS guys who don't have this attitude that will defend Singapore to the last man when war comes,ehehe

My point here is that with technology advances and superior hardware we can defend a country more effectively with a small full trained regular army than with a large force of NSmen crowding on our small island waiting to be bombed. it's all in the brain not the muscle

If you have no wish to defend, given a 100000000000 amount of soldiers, can you win? NO! Just like asking everyone of them to play a game of chess whereby everyone of them do not feel like winning, how can they fight and even win the fight?
