Yes, i agree there is a double standard in this.
The teacher who wrote bad stuffs about his student, being older, and more mature in his thinking, should be able to differentiate the right from the wrong.
Kids, on the other hand, are younger and more naive, thus, they are normally being given the benefit of doubt.

Are you sure blogs are private diaries? Yes, unless you only give permission to those that you want them to read. But most blogs are private. Anyone can read it, including principal, students, teachers and so on. Writing bad bout teachers may not end up with the teacher knowing, but you might get sabotage by other students who reads your blog. They might just go around telling others about you and so on. Not scared to be the talk of the town?
i am a secondary school student and that topic is my debate motion. i wish to use this forum to help on my research on this topic. Please help , we are the opposition

being older and mature don't mean that feelings don't get hurt, or their pride don't matter. they're not Jesus you know.
if a 15 year old kid in school challenged your authority knowing that he can't be touched, and you vented on your blog, who would be in the wrong?
can you really be excused for being "immature" and "naive"? i know you can be excused if you're mentally retarded though, but beyond that, i think that everyone takes responsibility for their actions, emotional responsibility or otherwise. like at least feeling guilty about it. and not be cocky and brag about being able to diss a teacher and get away with it, or even worse, after dissing the teacher, and he takes the fall while you get away with it.
take for example, this scandal 2 years ago:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wee_Shu_Min_elitism_scandal
i cannot accept it that people like them can say stuff like that and get away with it totally scot free because they were "naive" or "immature". in any case, they should bear at least some responsibility and learn the hard way that words do hurt others and they should be careful with them.

Thats the problem with society.
However, the teacher has every right to act on the writings of the kid.
Apprently no teacher has ever done that.
why cannot?
The student has freedom of speech & can talk about anyone that he wants what
then a teacher has a freedom of speech too ! why is the teacher caught for insulting the student in blogs and students not caught ??? WHY??
Ask the govt
students should not be allowed to blog about teachers as it is considered putting information on the teacher's life on the blog any 1 agree? ![]()
