Living with me ger, 2 dogs, my guitars and toys....
You can walk around naked if you are on a high floor or have the curtains up...with or without clothes...try to decide what to eat again or should you eat Hans for the 52nd time of the month, you have to do the dishes, mop the floor, wash the clothes, put it to dry, remove it from the rack, fold it, iron it, stack them back into the wardrobe, try to get rid of the musky smell come rainy season, try to recall if you have closed the windows when it finally rains, trying to recall if you have turn off the lights, the gas, locked the doors, fed the dogs, cleaned the poods, where you left your things, get rid of that irritating lizards making some sickening noise, deal with the countless junk mails, take out the trash, wipe the dust off the table top, remember to pay the bills, pay the bills, wonder why your bills are so high even when you are living alone, is the air con leaking, remember to smile to your neighbour cos they are nearer than your family, wonder if you drop dead cos a lizard poo falls on your head and anyone will notice the stench coming from your unit in time to contact your next of kin before you have fully decomposed and eaten up by lizards.
Did i remind you to keep the clothes cos the rains is coming?
Was talking to one of the ang moh colleague today, he told me," what? u still live with ur parent? I move out alone when i was 16!" :)

1 - i eat out
2 - windows always close as aircon always on
3 - I got a maid in twice a week to clean the place
4 - get a real dryer. Clothes coming out of a real dryer would be completely dry
as for the lizards, get a pest controller
1 - i eat out
I ate out too....but after spending 52 meals at Hans in one month, I started to think I'm Sylar from the TV serial Hero. Oh, I think I have typo too....i mean Sia-less cos contipation has set in!
2 - windows always close as aircon always on
It's really quite tough cos with about 1300 sq ft to cool down, I get too stressed out thinking about the bills. I think the ads from Powergrid really has an sublimal effect on me....why am I so thirsty???
3 - I got a maid in twice a week to clean the place
Good idea....this is something I have been comtemplating since I move out of my family where the house cleaner comes every week. That will greatly reduce my current slight advantage of suanning people who can't even clean up their own trash by a few folds....I guess I need to find a new angle to suan...
4 - get a real dryer. Clothes coming out of a real dryer would be completely dry
Another spot-on solution....I guess I need to budget for a new washer then cos mine's a top loading and there's no more space in the yard to place the dryer. The said combi is not that good - one spoilt and the other is as good as write off.
Are you using a dryer that can fold and iron, btw? Cos that will greatly save me time doing Betty Boops
as for the lizards, get a pest controller
I have been training my dogs and they sure can chase the lizards up the walls!!!!! Think I should set my dogs on my neighbour instead and teach them to clean their ass house up so that me staying above will have a better environment....
Life has been unkind to me....it made me kind!

Ang Mo culture is no need to care about their parents when they get old. When you are old enough, can just move out and the parents can take care of themselves (fiancially also).

pros - privacy, can do whatever - whenever, stay naked (cooler during hot days), bring chicks home to screw, no curfew
cons - no one else to cook & clean, high initial setup cost buying fridge ($2.3k), TV ($20k), washing machine + dryer ($1.5k), king size - water bed ($3k),
So do you need to send money back home (to your parents)?

not really
my parents are way richer than me + they plan to give my inheritance to charity
something about me growing a backbone and not depending on family

get the maid to do the ironing/folding
i don't understand why is there a need to move out away from our family when there is no conflict or whatever.
unless or otherwise, being able to live with family is a bliss isn't it.
it's like, how long can you live with your family?until the day you get married?have to cherish the times together ma.

Guess it's all about dealing with independence and loss!
Maybe that's why US is the highest energy consumer! Cos everyone moves out, get their own place, buy their own cars, and lost all the synergies and economies of scale!
More action less talk. Then you will know what it feels like and suddenly you will grow a hugh amount of appreciation for your family.
No matter what we say here, cannot translate into experience. 1st hand experience is best.
Dubai actually have little man-made islands for sale, considering buying one of those you'll really be living alone..
those man-made islands are sinking...

imagine when there's a rush of buying of home, marriage, child,,,new wife..4 problems one shot come together..it'll make ur head blow man..especially those shot-gun marriage..poor thing..
well..i've being living with my mom since my birth..and i found the common problem of guys having to live with their silbings problem already harassing me for more than a few years already...
arguements, disagreements..don't even talk..
well the only stuffs we do talk is to talk back and interupt each other's lecture section..lol..
i've got enough of my family's bad habits..
rather than living off my mom, and having to like make and do with what elder sister and brother..i'll just move out for good..as soon as i can earn my own money..
if nothing goes wrong..i'll start off by working home-based..thus having a comfortable home has always being on my mind..in fact a home office based type of home..
get what i mean..
we all gotta face up to reality and take responsiblitilies where it's due..so why not take it up early and show our parents that we can take good care of ourshelves thus they can have a peace of mind and not worry about us.
along with some peers, i've circled around the blocks between having to tolerate living arrangements at home, tolerate parents who quarrel, tolerate lack of space with siblings and living alone and with friends. so i suppose it really differs from one to the other.
these things are different for everybody.
moving out for a bit is quite liberating, gives you fresh perspective. i've had some rough years with my family from my late teens to early adulthood, 18-22, but my dad got sick afterwards and died, sibling got married.
looking back on what happened, whether we would have experienced the turbulence while living together that we did had those not been the circumstances (living together), i don't know.
regardless, i think everyone goes through the phase of change and wanting space of their own but for me, i'm lucky my mom and i are close now and i'd like to think that we're living together not because financially, we need to, but because i want to. splitting the bills helps me financially as well.
so it really depends on your circumstances, space can be fabulous until you figure out what you want and what you eventually need. sometimes separation can be a good thing too.
i know that from a pride perpective it troubles some of us to think that we're of a certain age and should be out of the nest. but me thinks, really, that must live alone stuff is predominantly a bunch of Western bullshit.
as for responsibilities, heh, if given a choice, i'll rather never grow up.
