out of curiosity if you are not a Malay then what are you? -
wow.such a remarkable thing!so many muslims of diverse racial backgrounds.i belong in the same category as some of you in that i am not purely malay muslim.im part dutch.lol btw,i hve a question.is it okay for me to study law in nus?i heard islam forbids/discourages the study of the law and the thing is,i plan to study criminal law and become a criminal lawyer.

First time I ever heard of such a thing...
What about Shariah laws then? I don't see the logic discouraging Muslims from studying law. Just look around and see how many Muslim lawyers there are!

tahlil 1st 3 days has passed.. my late mom was an exemplary, fine woman. she's gone to a better, wonderful place to be with Allah...
today went to SPH place an obituary for tmr's malay papers.. -

Then what's the point of having a justice system if it's haram/makruh to be a lawyer?

I've experienced it before...for me, my grandma passed away one week before hari raya and one week after hari raya, my uncle passed away in a freaking acident...so, berat mata memandang berat lagi bahu memikul....

I have heard of this before... From my understanding, it's not studying law that is forbidden, but when it comes to questioning opposing witnesses and the opposition and such at the stand... It's like what ppl would say, Fitnah?Sometimes the person didn't do anything, on the stand the lawyer would accuse him/her... Something like that...
