Red Wines is an option but will need to have some specialised cabinet to keep them and once you drink them its gone.
Watches can be worn and doesn't take up much space.
I am not really into investment in watches just want to know the changes in value of watches over time. How about less pricely brands like Seiko?
I heard actually seiko is very good.
For me I am buying a rado watch soon, hopefully.![]()
dun wear one...

Casio is one of the most cheapskate watches just above the pasir malam one.
It's not a question of brands. You'll be lucky to get your money back on an Air King, even if it is a Rolex. On the other hand, that old chrono you have may get you six figures if someone recognises it as a Newman Daytona.
Even with Pateks, there are enough Calatravas about that unless there's a bit of history behind that particular watch, it's not a given that you won't be offered less than what you paid.
All up, if you're looking to get "investment" pieces rather than just collecting them, forget it. There's much easier ways of making a buck.
i like pp, frank muller(hope i spell it right) and..basically all skeleton watch..those dun run with batt de value all will increase over time ma..right?

Thanks, you sound like you have lots of experience with watches. Any particular brand and model to recommend with a budget of less than $300.
i think the pokemon kind with rubber strap ... collectors may want to buy it and it cost cheap :D
go to Wisma, Red Army watches.
They sell nice and affordable russian watches - including the tourbillion models. @ Quite reasonable prices

Just to clarify, you're looking for something that you can buy for under $300 that will appreciate over time? That's not my usual price bracket, but two things that come to mind are limited edition Swatches and (if you can find any) "New Old Stock" (NOS) Seikos. NOS watches are pieces that have sat in a dealer's store and not been sold for a long time - when these stores close down or want to clear space for new stock, they hold fire sales and let these watches off for seriously bargain prices. There's a chance that you'll pick one up that may not be popular in Singapore, but that collectors in other countries may pay good money for.
Then again, you may just get stuck with something that depreciates instead. You need to do your homework and find out who's paying how much for which models.

High price, maybe. Higher than what you paid for it, unlikely.
Forget sending them in for service - they'll just make a very ordinary watch even worse.
Rolex

Like I said, X, the brand's not the deciding factor. Okay, for example, what would you figure is the price difference between these two Rolexes? Both are stainless steel; the one above is water resistant to 4000 feet, the one below to 1000 feet.

Actually I never thought that watches are a good form of investment. I always that they're like cars, the value only depreciates. But still if you want to invest in a watch I think Tag Heuer's not a bad choice. My dream watch![]()

Not by a long shot. TAGs have poor resale value.
Overall, you're right. Unless you're willing to do a lot of homework, almost to the extent that you become a vintage dealer, forget watches as investments.
Point noted, maybe watches ain't my type of side line investments as generally will depreciate over time. Thanks
