You are right there are "white" skinned amongst the north east asian group but japs seem to be pulpable.

The origin of the Ainu is a puzzle and is still being disputed. I came across a book that described the Ainu as originated from the chain of Aleutian Islands.
And it also described the Aleutian's origin as a puzzle. They seem to be mixed people of continental Asia and/or Europe with pacific islanders.
But the distinct feature of Ainu over the Asiatic Japanese was the extreme hairyness of the Ainu compare with Asiatic Japanese. -

Yup you're right. Jap girls are fairer than Caucasians, nordic or not. They have this milky tone.
As for the story of the Chinese general going to Japan and settling down, it's probably a legend. The Yayoi people are thought to come from south China but there's no proof of some royal incident behind it. Correct me if I'm wrong.
