  I think Kang Kar was used as a port for unloading charcoal and small fishing boats n also got a bus terminal

  Cool. Thanks. I didn't know that. Wonder how many people actually go there to view them to remember the past and history etc.

  I remember blk 42x of Hougang used to be red in colour but they repainted to white/green in 2005-6

  i only knew u can go there because i enquired once before. But had not gone there to use the service.

  In Sengkang, at Rivervale that side. Sengkang New Town was known as Kangkar (Foot of the Harbour) New Town when it was in planning state. It was in 1995 or 1996 that HDB changed the name of the town to Sengkang (Prosperous Harbour).

  Hi,

  I used to stay at Kang Kar when I was much younger.

  There was a kampung there and yes it used to be a fishery. Fishermen sell their harvest there. Its bustling with activities when it come to the early morning when the fish trading begins.

  There was a bus terminal where the buses like 153, 82, 85 used to be there. 

   

  Have lived there until the government wanted back the plot of land for development in 1985. That was when all the fellow villagers moved to the surrounding HDB like Hougang Ave 7 and Ave 10

   

  The then Kang Kar is now occupied by part of punggol park and Serangoon Secondary school and the long stretch of road down to Seng Kang.
