it's been a year since my lasik... so far so good
is the eyesight good after lasik?
it depends on how you take care of it after the surgery... put more eye drops, don't rub it, don't read in dark areas etc...
I have people around me who have gone for it and so far no complaint from them. I was strongly recommended the one at Paragon, the doctor is called Mark something. REasonable price.
i'd recommend dr jerry tan at camden medical centre.
that's where i had mine done and i've got 6/6 vision now.
thx ya all fer ur replies! ![]()
Fantagf: i tink da dr. mark ur referring to is from lsc?
vulpes macrotis mutica: i juz checked out dr. jerry tan's website and found dat he will be havin a talk on lasik complications in march! maybe i'll go listen first before i decide to finally do lasik.. but i heard his prices are rather expensive! ![]()
Lasek is slicing off the surface area of the cornea. The long term effect is still unknown.

heard of some horror stories, seen them often previously where i worked, its pretty mixed i guess, most of the ones who had failed operations usually share the same stories.
most of the time its not so much as the operation went wrong but rather the doctors who own the clinics super on to do lasik for anyone who comes in just to earn an extra buck. so you get all sorts of people who were not suitable for lasik getting the operation done ending up with worse vision then before or dry eyes. others i've seen had sucessful lasik but they never took care and the degree came back sometime later sometimes back to the same level or higher.
this issues aside i've also seen cases that were successful. and they really are much happier. especially the ones who were blind with out their glasses. some happened to have dry eyes too but they consider it to be quite worth it compared to previous situation. some still end up with a little bit of degree but what they spent on lasik they save on their glasses. no need to spend 200-400 bucks for their lenses each time so after a few glasses replacements the money come back liao.
but if you're planning to do lasik just go for a check up first to see if you're suitable(knew at least a couple of people who ignored their docs when told they can't go for it yet go private clinic to try). hear what the doc has to say then take sometime to consider. after operation also need to do follow up also.

Have you considered Lasek?
It's always good to do a bit of research and compare it for yourself.
I think Lasek is better, cos it removes and burns off the surface of your cornea using laser. Then it allowed your cornea to grow back as new...eliminating the risks of getting a possible infection.
But you will need to take a longer time to recover...like about 7 days for your new cornea to grow back again.
Lasik will probably take a shorter time to recover, but I'll go for Lasek if I'm in your position. ![]()
after you done the operation, you don have to wear spects anymore?as in your eyesight wont get bad anymore?

The cornea is the transluscent piece of cover on the iris. The slicing is in micro mm.
The cornea cannot grow back...there is no tissue or blood vessel to the cornea.

depends, before going for it the docs would tell you its not 100% might have something left. see before -6.00 to -8.00 after op become around less than 100 to 100++ degree.
for some the eyesight might get bad again.maybe even worse
whether you need to wear specs depends on you also. i'm only 25 degrees in one eye but that eye can't see shit beyond 2m while my friend can go around without glasses even though he's like 300degrees

i'm quite negative about lasik myself but i usually tell people who are around -6.00 and above to consider if it would help since different lifestyles have different needs.
For those who are air stewardess or into extreme sport, you better off without lasik.
There is a medical explanation to it but I will not post it here. You want to know pm me.
Me eyesight ok, no need lasik, but i got a small mole in my chest navel, can lasik if off hor?? I went to the skin centre to check, but i rejected the Doctor, cos it was a male doc, look very tiko. Next week me go appointment with a lady doctor, hope is not hormone type.

Hello, I would like to share my experience also. I just did my lasik not long ago, sometime before CNY. I did it at the lasik surgery clinic at Paragon and it was a LOUSY experience. I sincerely suggest you go for other places, check around and choose one that you feel most comfortable. You probably only got to do this once in your life, so choose wisely, and you only have a pair of eyes. I understand Lasik is more of a commondity right now as you can see it everywhere (at least in Singapore), but that doesn't mean the clinic can be so "unprofessional". They have a few options available, each comes with different prices, while you were seeking their advise which one suits you better, they said "IT DOESN'T MATTER"! I felt what they really care is about pushing you to do the surgery, like doing a hard sell on insurance product. Who cares about your eyes.... what the he**- how does it not matter? It is my eyes, not food nor clothing...
Somemore, I had a hard time scheduling my 2nd and 3rd review, they told me the doctor is busy that i would have to wait until June (supposedly the 3rd review should be in April). I was quite upset about it, they simply don't care about you once you are done with the surgery. Making $ is their utmost priority.
The result actually didn't come out very good, i am now R6/18 L6/18.
Anyways, I really don't like the way they treat the patients. Highly suggest you not to go there!
