yesh.
join me?
the point with this thread is about the shocking things happening at AWARE now, not gender wars.
as far as i know, the old timers and current AWARE veterans, including the top management, were toppled over by some fully newcomers in the recent electoral.
like what happens in those HK dramas full of company politics etc......
anyway, this is very shocking to hear such things happening in SG.....
there obviously is some plot and conspiracy behind all these.
and that new AWARE chief, that Debbie Lau or something........not sure her name, but surname is Lau........something is fishy about her.
and now DBS comes into the picture.
Lau.. she must be FooChow. lol!
u tink debbie gibson ah.
she is josie lau lah.
one of dbs' vps.
aiyah its just the media focusing on the politics within AWARE nia, which are basically no different from any other organizations
which is why its good they bring them into light
Sometimes, it's good to know what's going on in the organisation of Singapore. As much as they're there to help the women of Singapore whom I believe are most proably grateful, we must also be aware of what's happening within the organisation so that we would know if they're reliable enough for us to depend on or not.
I didn't start the topic for a gender war, please don't focus on that. And yes, man are allowed to join the organisation from what I read in the papers.
the simple thing to do for those who figure they're asswipes running the place now is to totally ignore them...
do not turn up, do not make noise, do not even recognise their existence.. because doing so would give them credit where it is not due...
instead of help we gals and women, they are helping themselves to gain some self interest, it is indeed sad to see aunties with high education and prominent careers fighting for a lost cause.
Instead of being AWARE, they are now getting the limelight of the media, wonder if that is part of their strategy to get AWARED.

Civil society is about and thrives on engaging in debate and discourse. Doing what you suggested would be resorting to the same tactics the new exco and their cronies have used.
They are not just attention seekers, for sure; looking at their actions alone (and not their homophoobic views), whatever they stand for is unhealthy. And silence can always be mistaken for apathy or consent.
Nevertheless, i think it is a lose lose situation for we gals, as my grandma rightly put it "A total disgrace to we. the womenfolks and a laughing stock for the men"

I agree with your take.
By keeping silent, it could most probably show that we're not very bothered by their unethical way of presiding the organisation. By saying that, I'm not saying that I as TS, would start doing some practical stuff to raise a ruckus.
But by giving your views on forums, I believe the people up there should surf and read? lol. I wonder is there any third party who would be able to come in and mediate the situation or not. ![]()

I will rather agree for them to maintain a silent period with the media and news, whatever happen should be within their four walls and should be taken as confidential. Going into news to show it strength and popularity is now the right kind of chicken soup for me.

I do hope that such views as yours are a minority. As a male, I do not look at the situation as something of amusement or in any way 'disgraceful' to my fellow female citizens.
Rather, it shows the strengths and passions of our womenfolk to aspire and fight for what is theirs democratically, a timely awakening from the submissive females their grandmothers had been.
It is only the way that they conduct themselves that may be an issue which shows a rawness in its public relations management, but only a minor issue of an organisation that is reforming and re-generating itself.
More critical is what it does to uplift the lives of singaporean women, and not just PR N.A.T.O. talk in public, and should be judged as such.
The only ones who should be blame for much of the bad publicity would be ex-co. They seemed to be hell-bent on destroying the organisation with their public catcalls where patience would be necessary and better used instead.
Aware is an organisation that is bigger than anyone of them, for it represents or at least attempts to represent the majority of our womenfolk. Aware is not A WAR.
It is a concern to our society, for who amongst us males do not have a woman in our lives - vital of all is that, we males issued forth from mothers.
To us man, it looks likes like the women society is a circus...do we really want that?
aiya. Just create AMARE, Association of women for Action and Research ba. 1 AWARE and 1 AMARE
Solve gender equality problem or wad crap
The way things develop for this organisation in the next few days and weeks will be watched closely by many, many important people. ![]()

Exactly.
Given the profile of these ex-co members, I think everyone is going to scrutinise their actions. Their ethics I think are going to be questioned big time. ![]()
guys beware of aware.
I listened to their talk that they don't know each other until they decided to join AWARE and coincidentally got themselves elected as exco members. It's such coincidence that many new members decided to vote them to the committee. Coincidentally, they have the urge to join AWARE together. Coincidentally, they share the same conviction that discrimination against 'gay women' is a stand that needs further discussion. Coincidentally, they work so well together to get themselves so organised. I wonder which organisation grouping will be imposing their religious beliefs and 'values' through the new AWARE.
In future, I will surely scrutinise their motives whenever they are involved in public work and promotions on women matters. The public will want to know how the ulterior motives of these new members and how AWARE will evolve.
You guys got read up on Aware, this woman organisation?
What are you guys views on it?
As long as this cat-fight doesn't get tax-payer's $ invovled, I am okay.
Personally, I don't mind an occasional high-society women-only fight-club coming along. So, what's their view on women pole-dancers and NS?
Meantime, I paid my last respect to another woman I know that contributed to Singapore: The Samsui woman.

The press love to sensationalize, speculate and weave all sorts of tales isn't it. ST should be called a gossip newspaper. Are sales poor or news so scarce that they need to give so much print space to a hardly heard of group?

sadly, these are the real female heroes of singapore
not high heels strutting career women or tanned tough looking women climbing Mt Everest

There is more to it than just some simple "I don't like the direction you are taking, so I take over your exco " matter.
Like I said, a lot of important people will be monitoring it closely.
My guess is that the old guards will retake control sooner rather than later. ![]()
