Er, don't quite understand your scenario because of how you explained it but....
Keep as a group, leave the motel and walk towards the nearest aid (because the aid isn't going to come to you since no one knows of your predicament). Depends on the weapons the killers have - close range weapons or long range guns. If it's close-range, stick to open areas, then you can see them approach. Long range - hide in thick foilage, sleep in trees etc. If it's Kindaichi-esque where the killer is amongst the group - to guard against that, stay watch in threes or twos at night so the killer doesn't kill everyone.
Or leave someone alone as bait and when the killer tries to attack him - you find out who he is :)

tsk. i'm assuming no aid will come. besides, when people assume they're going to die in situations like that, chances are they'd rather do than die cos they've got nothing to lose liao.
no electricity in countryside mah. so if a glare of light appears at the motel, it's most likely the killer.

close compound easier to corner. open spaces, easier for him to escape.
if killers outnumber us all, then bo bian either steal their resources, or depart for forest and keep moving lor. the more they search the more tired they will get also. besides, if they think we're scared shitless, they usually get ahead of themselves de.
