I highly suspect that government civil service / government related job wages have outpaced private sector wages in terms of starting pay and annual bonuses for the past few years.
Again this is ignoring the outliers of 4-8K.
Otherwise, why do you hear of those 8 month bonus crap in CDCs?

I cannot find reason as to why this fresh lawyer is being paid so much, other than she could be in a unique legal specialisation field than her peers. Or alternatively, from a business prospective, the company might be having an intention to lure top legal eagle into the firm by offering a fat bait to entice.

Ya, come to think of it right, Public sector now quite attractive wor, if u are small small fry in Uni, sans all the high flyer la okay.But Public sector no fun leh, no chiong chiong chin chong like private sector. Private sector more drama, makes life more interesting!

actually the more pay u get the more stress and responsibility of the job scope lor.
common ppl i c want high pay, den got high pay job liao cannot stick to the job for a yr or so.. job hop liao.. alot reasons say this no gd tat no gd, actual fact is tat he/she cannot cope wif the job wif tat pay lor.. haha this is the group of ppl hopping till now recession, not much jobs opening if got also so call "low pay" they dun wan to work.. the rest is history..

i see alot of graduates, their mindset totally different, they can think that they pay so much to study to get that extra education skills but its all theory, waste so many years. den cum out working world, so many sharks around they interview, compaines also consider their applications whether want to take risk on them or take a lao jiao . got gd or bad lor..

in econ boom, fresh grad can afford to be laxed when comes to job seeking. But in recession, you have to 'chiong' (correctly) for the jobs.....they are out there but you have to seek them out like a sharp shooter...of course, with the right tools and method. -
