Less than 1k and big family in 2009?

Ok ok..during my grandparents time having more than 5 kids is nothing ....now there are reports that people can support a big family with 1k and below...so if it can be done why couples who earn 5k and more don't even want to have 1 child...??
Is it not natural for high income earners to produce more kids and lower income earners less kids to ensure optimal performance in a healthy society?

It's terrible.
It is difficult to start a family with just $1000.
It might be possible, but i disapprove of it.
Couples who earn 5k and above..
If they're highly educated.. i think i can understand why they would not want to start a family yet. The idea of getting tied down with a kid is just tiring.Logically i also approve that higher income earners should produce more babies.. cause simply, if they have the means to bring themselves to earn that much.. they must be of some calibre. (Qualified) So their off-spring must be of gd genes too.
Thing is.. having a kids means giving.. and self-sacrificing.. alot of us are not ready yet.This government bonus thingy.. just only enourage the poor having more kids. Thus creating more social problems in the long run.
I am sure there are better options available than just providing $$ -

I think some here are forgetting what truly matters.
Why does one want children? There are many reasons, one of them being that one loves children. Children are NOT commodities. Money isnt everything. It can only provide one's life for comfort. You dont BUY children. You have to create them and they can only be created out of love. It is a 'labour' of love.
And if you love your children, do you think you will be contend with $1,000 a mth salary? Definately you will find ways and means to earn more money, to provide for them.
Buying mac, KFC, or pasta is not love. That is indulgence. Only if you have spare cash. Children are adaptable, and if you can teach and guide them, they will not want or hunger for kfc and the like, but instead will work harder in school to achieve success to buy luxuries of life later
That was how our forefathers, uneducated coolies, taught us, which we excelled far beyond their expectations today.
It will be tough to have kids on $1,000 a mth, but when you have kids, you will automatically seek and work harder for better salaries, if you truly love your kids.
In tough times such as these, where our salaries are hit, we as society had not abandon our young, but had provided incentives for struggling families in this difficult period, which is temporary.
Therefore, it is not a question about a family if they can survive on $1k or $10ka mth, but rather, do you love children.

adult est 30days meal allowance take it like 3 meal with 1meal+1drink ==> (($3 +$1.5) x3meals x30 days x 2pax) ==> $810.
PS: That is provided you eat standard chicken rice/ noodle / veg rice that is $3.
House Loan average => 3 room about $100/month
Power supply bill ==> Average $80/month
Working adults hp bill for 2 pax ==> min $100
House fone bill ==> $25
Kid school fee each cheap cheap pri school no tution or addition classes ==> $100/pax
Kid meal allow each $200/pax if 2 kids ==> $400
Transport taking MRT only go work and home average $5.00 x 25days x 2pax =$250
Sub total : $810+100+80+100+25+400 +250 ==> $1800 approxi.
Above mention you have yet include, car loan, smoking, buy snacks or coffee, And didn't include toilet paper and household needs.
You think you can survive with 1k ?

5 years ago I watched a documentary on TV on how a family survived on something slightly more than S$1k in Japan.The wife grew hydroponic vegetables at home,get food from restaurants who were about to throw their leftover food and steals toiletries from public toilets and hotels.At the end of the program the wife showed her bank account of about S$ 1.5 million.It seemed she started that practice like many donkey years back.........you could start yours tomorrow morning.Just dont get caught by the cleaning lady at your nearest MRT station.
