Hello everyone!
I have a project going on and it requires me to get a bag of my own blood. Does anybody has any idea how to go about doing it? I've donated blood at HSA's blood bank about 7 times so far. I wonder if it is possible for me to talk to them and ask if they can help me obtain a small bag of my own blood. Perhaps 1/2 the amount of the standard bag donated would do too.
Cheers!
thanks people!
i think a syringe would do better if u want ur blood sample.
sadly I don't have the expertise to do it.... If i'm a nurse and I have my own equipment, I could just DIY. But sadly I can't... so calling for anyone with nurse training or diploma in nursing to help... anyone?
u girl or boy?
I'm a female. Why is that relevant?
sounds ghoulish..
what kind of project is that?
and it sounds illegal too
u just need some things that r readily available off the shelf at the pharmacy...
gloves, alcohol swap, syringe needle, blood test tube...
why does it sounds illegal? What's the phobia about blood? It's not like I'm using someone else's blood. It's my own blood. Don't we have right over how we choose to use our own blood? It is precisely because blood is such a symbolic and meaningful thing that I have chosen to use it as the crux of the project. Blood can mean brotherhood, it can mean courage, love, labour, womb and life!
how do u intend to use it for the project?
how many ml of blood do u need?
blood can also mean blood-borne disease spread around... simply by contact...
why do you think everyone touching blood these days must wear protective gloves?
Wow....you must be careful....please dont draw your blood by yourself....I worry there will be accidents....
Hmmm....Im not sure....maybe you can ask Red Cross or other such organizations....tell them you can donate blood but also want to ask favor to keep 1 for your project....So maybe you go to there twice.....
no organization will help u draw for the sake of your own project.
why don't use artificial blood?
Eh...if no organization want to help you....please dont do it yourself hor....
I think you can botch it and you pass out, or worse, you die.
u can ask a tattoo artist or someone who does piercings...
WTF....you gave her the worst advice.
WTH is that experiment again,
shareeeee
i'm so (totally) keeping track on this and voting for my favourite answer to TS's question. ![]()
couldn't really figure out if you need a Pint of Blood or just blood sample.

u should even asked!!!!
yah...blood borne diseases, most prob no hospitals will help you do that. But I think you dont need so much blood, the doctors normally have the small vacuum vial/bottle type around 80ml, those where once they puncture the skin then replace it with the vacuum bottle to suck up the blood.
Not sure if clinic will do that. Normally they have those if you want to do body check up etc.
do u have "toxic waste / chemical deposal" ? what will u do with remainder of blood?
slash your wrists, cant there be a simpler way than that?
easy just use needle poke your fingertip then squeeze the blood out btw u doing blood cells project ar
I believe your workplace needs proper certification and licensing before it can do blood studies and other biohazardous work.
And if your lab is already properly certified and equipped, then shouldn't the techs there be able to draw blood from you?
Uhh..... exactly what kind of project is this and which organization are you from?
