Any travellers should take precaution, no matter how safe the place is. All the troubles will start if you hit the wrong side of town.

well zenden9. I think you misinterpreted what i was trying to say. But ill point it out.
You may look at sg and see all the lovely and towering buildings, landscape, clean and almost flawless places.
However, I do not find sg a first world country simply for one reason. Its backwards in human rights. And by far, in my books. Id consider that NOT first world equivilant.
What you might have interpreted would be 1st word country=pleasant sight to the eyes.
and yes, i can assure you its safe to walk around after buying groceries at 1am in the morning here, in town, in sydney.
as for NY or amsterdam, cant comment cause i dont stay there. But what Chew Bakar stated applies.

There's a difference between going overseas for a trip and going overseas with regards to migration.

Singapore has many good tourist attractions.
You just visit the official tourism website, you can see lots of nice places to visit.
I know this is hard to believe.
But even if you have lived in Singapore all your life, you can find Singapore to be interesting, if you visit those places, which you have never visited before.

SIngapore is forever a tourist attraction.
Botanic Gardens Sunday, Orchard road sunday, even MRT station right in the middle of station control always got people gather and you know they are not locals. As long as i don't see them in fuctories working their are not foreign labor but tourists. cause even if only 1dollar they still contribute to ur tourism trade - od so funnie

Ummmmm . . . . Singapore is not the only safe place to go out at night. It is pretty safe to go out at night in Perth, HOng Kong and Malaysia. -

i doubt anyone in their right mind would come to singapore on its own, but as part of neighbouring countries as well.

Actually tourism is about 3% of Singapore's GDP value. It's a rather standard values among many countries. In no way are we dependent on tourism to survive but if this industry collapse many people in service sectors are going to be affected anyway.
And I presume most foriengers come to Singapore for the food. ^^. I can't think of another place with the kind of quality and quantity Singapore provides, perhaps except for HK. Maybe they come here to shop as well, since it seems like ion orchard is built for these foreigners (definitely not for the teens ~-~).
