I have to check out Orchard Rd thoroughly on my next visit ...so many new buildings.

Just wondering which part of Singapore is still very much 80s?
I think the Tanglin Halt/Commonwealth area is one, where else?

That place was demolished more than 10 years ago. Had good fish soup. Now occupies by Raffles Hotel. -

What about Tiong Bahru or Selegie Rd? -
many many moons ago i met a person from HKG and he asked me where I stayed? North Beach Road or South Beach Road? I told him right behind Noth beach road for his reference....but my family did start off North Beach road a humble begining.
Hair Cut place for $0.50 cent on the 5 sq ft place. on circular road. A rotating chair with a small mirror.

Sorry I dont get you.I know there is South Bridge Rd, North Bridge Rd and Beach RdPasir Panjang is 'Long Beach' other than that I dont know.

Someone did mention about the Selatar Air Base area in the earlier threads when he typed out the names of the roads.I wont be surprised if the old buildings and quarters are still there and if you have a chance to see it ,it could reminise some good memories of the 50s and 60s for you. -

Pasir Panjang changed lots
West Coast Highway was completed and PSA built the biggest container terminal ever at Pasir Panjang with 26 (and 41 in 2011 - 2012).

what i really miss is all the fun fairs that used to spring up all over the island during the sch holidays..where you would play tikam tikam and win all the soft toys and hear the hum of the electric generator...
also i miss the 7 month getai in the past when it was still all about hokkien opera and traditional hand puppets shows...
