To me, i rather drink from the tap water instead of boiling it though...unless it's appears in other colors..like rust brown
maybe it's the old tradition of boiling water passed down from older generations down to us...

the "traditions" weren't
they were really to make the water safe for drinking during a time when water was from the streams, rivers and wells..
But look at the tao huey chui and chin chow - you think they come from boiled water? No point drinking boiled water at home when you drink tap water outside.
i boil rain water for drinking, my house collect alot of rain water, for gardening, wash floor, cars, cloths and dishes. We seldom use tap water.

Even if the source of supplied water is guaranteed safe by govt. What about the state of tanks, pumps and pipes before it reaches your very tap?
2. Boiled water simply tastes better. Boiling gets rid of that whiff of chlorine and fluoride which turns most people off drinking raw water.
Simples.
Wrong, boiling water makes it taste worse because it removes the aeration.
yea.. my family still boils water..
but dosent matter to me..make no diff..still water
Lack of aeration makes water taste flat.
This is more texture or mouthfeel than flavour.
Chemical flavour is still worse.

Singapore tap water is consider as safe water, but it is not healthy water. it contains chlorine, that kills bacteria but chlorine is also harmful to our health, science has proven that chlorine causes cancer and other serious illness.

What...? Really...? Then how...?
Give suggestion.
where i live, we're not allowed to use boiled water for ice cubes... but we're allowed to use those ice cubes to chill coffee and tea... ![]()
i'm the only one at home who will drink tap water when the cooling flask is empty. cos it makes no sense to dispense hot water and wait for it to cool in my cup and it makes no sense to cool the hot water with ice cubes.
i think it grosses people out when i embrace the consumption of tap water when we're out of mineral water, or when i'm in public washrooms and in need of an after meal gurgle so these days, i do it only when no one's looking.
a bit tak glam.
consumed tap water in 3rd world countries out of desperation a few times - still alive. i love singapore!

chlorine was used in WWI as a chemical weapon..
chlorine when dissolved in water gives you hypochloric acid which quickly become hydrochloric acid..
but that's just trace.. not enough to cause any problems to people..
and guess what?
your stomach is full of hydrochloric acid... it's the stuff that helps you digest your food!
sheesh!!
Personally, I feel that boiled water tastes better than tap water. Just my 2 cents. ![]()
When I was growing up in Singapore back in the 70s and 80s, I used to love the taste of the water that came right out of the faucets.
I don't know if the advent of NEWater has changed the taste, though...
tsk, when it comes to tasting water , boiled tapped filtered or mineraled... it depends on how delicate and refined ur palette is de lar. ![]()
But mineral water is actually slightly sweet....it's true...
