I pray every night before I go to sleep.
I do not pray for my own needs or desires but for the welfare, safety and happiness of my family and loved ones, including dogs.
But I do understand now that I am older that probably praying is just for mental conditioning and self-psychology. However, since it doesnt hurt, I think it's good to continue with it. At least if there is no God, it's ok, still it has benefits for mental self-improvement.

My christian friends told me they keep praying but no response on yes or no or wait. -
Praying may not really has an "effect" on the surroundings, but it has an effect on the prayer / the person.
Praying will make a person more contemplative, reflective, and understand the general directions and situations of life.
Praying is similar to a form of deep meditation.
As I said, logically speaking there might not be any real benefits or practical outcome especially on specific requests, at least not on a direct causal relationship, but the effect is the mental conditioning of the person, which may bring the improvement indirectly.
For instance, I never pray I get Toto or 4D.
But when I was faced with school examinations, I did pray that I would do well.
Praying that I do well in exams, makes me more calm and determined to study. As a result, it may boost and improve my exam results.
Praying for the welfare and happiness of my family and loved ones, may not have a direct effect on them, but makes me more aware and conscious of them and makes me cherish them more. As a result, I may give them more attention and help them or support them in some ways. That can give them some improvements indirectly.

How do you remember and cherish someone?
Will you remember and cherish someone when you are walking in Orchard Road eating hamburger in your hand, or listening to iPod ?
Will you remember them in your daily busy activities, or in the middle of persuing things.
Praying helps because during the prayer sessions, that is the time that your thinking and your deep mental state, is being re-arrayed, re-evaluated, and re-arranged.
It can only happen in such state, in a prayer.
