this appeared in today's ST entitled poly high fliers. this girl, who scored 10 A1s for her O levels and scored 4 As in her A levels, a distinction for her S paper and A1 for her GP. btw she was from RGS and then to RJC.
she went to SMU to study accounting, but gave up after 2 months as she is doesnt like crunching numbers. after more than a year of soul searching, she enrolled to study at Ngee Ann Poly childhoon education, where her passion lies. she graduated from Ngee Ann Poly with a GPA of 3.99, where the maximum one can get is a GPA 4. now she is enrolled for Wheelock College where she will study for a degree in childhood education. she is now 24 and due to start her course in July.
With her excellent academic grades, she could apply to study at any of the top universities around the world, do you think its wasted that she followed her passion instead? she got passion in teaching young children.
I also scored 10 A1s for my O Levels and scored 4 As in my A levels, a distinction for my S paper and A for my GP. BTW, I was from XMS and then to RJC. LOL.
any proof? post your result slip for your O's and A's can?

she should have studied at NIE right? then she can teach at pri or secondary school kids after graduation

Childhood education dip/degree is quite different from the general dip/degree offered in NIE, since you will be teaching pre-primary school kids.
By taking an oversea degree in a top childhood education college, she made a wise move, since she will be able to teach overseas as well.
Teaching kindergarten and nursery kids generally doesn't pay well in SG after all.
Nothing wrong what, their choice. I got a sec sch friend also went to poly after scoring well for A levels. She rejected a few university offers too. Her reason for doing so was partially her love for a guy.

You are honest as usual ![]()
she could have studied in poly instead of going to RJC, wasted 2 years at RJC there.

Can she gurantee her husband won't turn out to be a loser eventually?

In a way, that is true.
Well, at least she has an idea of where to go now for the next part of her life, and that itself is good enough already.
There are plentiful of ppl who wasted a decade or so of their life not knowing where to go.
I just wasted 2 weeks, and counting.![]()
