According to many people, a 29-31 yo guy holding a middle-level executive/assistant managerial position earning 3.8-4.2K per month is considered "average"...
Is that really that bad?
Working experience = 3-4 years...
of course there are always many people out there that are overpaid and underworked.................always be thankful for what you have....................
eg............a UPS driver in US makes USD6000....................that's like a high-level manager !
Fuck what the "many people" think. If it's enough for you, then it's good enough. I see absolutely no reason for pursuing a higher-paying job for excess wealth just to appear "better" in the eyes of other people other than insecurity with oneself.
can we tok about his character??
Some fresh grads are making almost $4 thousand a month.
Even higher than some uni grads who have worked for 10 years. ![]()
Quite high pay really.....

Well, it depends on the type of honors and what degree the fresh grad is holding.
An engineering degree not of first class honors isn't going to help much nowadays.
dun be greedy lar. be contented.
I think in finance sector higher.... but depends lah on the company also

For the average general graduate (non honours, non scholar) it depends on your luck and timing of graduation.
If you graduated during the recession lows of the economy, your salary could be as low as a fresh graduate who finished school at the economy boom even if you have worked for a few years more than the fresh grad.
And illustration - eg. You graduated in 2003 during the SARS outbreak. You were lucky and managed to get a job but at a low salary eg. $1,800. After 2 years, you got an increment to $2,000 when the economy was starting to pick up. 1 year later in 2006, you got a promotion with a 20% increment to your salary to $2,400. Sounds good right?
Imagine a fresh grad who finishes school in 2006 who joins your company. Because the economy was starting to pick up, her starting salary was $2,400 which is eactly how much you are getting paid now in 2006 even though you have 3 years of working experience.
If a company can save a bit of money, it will. ![]()
That is why HR departments will always tell you not to reveal your salary to your colleagues lest you discover the great discrepancies among yourselves. ![]()
if im not wrong a fresh grad lawyer earns almost 5k

Then again, with so much foreigners from other developing countries looking for jobs in Singapore now, wages will only go lower.
Be thankful you have a $2.5k a month job when you are 40 years old. ![]()

Not really. I think it is a "ok" pay. You have not considered the bonus, workload and other factors, just looking at the person's income is not sufficient.
My lawyer friend is working earning more than 8 k per month, but if you divide by the pay per hour, it is not better than a sandwich maker. And everyday, he is crying to break bond, to quit his job...
there is also job satisfaction plus many other factors. So dont be narrow-minded.
It's considered low...I know of people who make more than $10k a month at that age

please. we r not talking about the tip of the iceberg.
If you consider his starting pay to be $2500, his increment per year is 400 for 4 years, that will be around 4.1k. I think it is reasonable good, consider that he is a officer worker. He just need to type computer and staple paper. I think it is a good pay.

I think in certain govt sectors, fresh grads guys with 1st class engineering honors start at 3.8k per month... Pte sector betw 3 to 3.2k.... so for 29~31 yr old... it's indeed average...
But still cannot beat self-employed...

I have the chance to be a lawyer but am dying not to be one. It's possibly the worst job ever.

That's bad, if you are a u graduate, you should be earning above 5k as average, and the best is at double digit pay, more so as today labour market is tight, ask for more.
The best is to be innovative and start up your own business, but dun end up earn abit here and there like wanderers,...still to your core expertise and concentrate on it for a few years, you will be shaking legs thereafter while money flows in...if you work for others, by the time you become a GM, old already
