Are all business owners (enterpreneurs) holding PHDs or are they hiring the people to work for them?
77th Street Entrepreneur is a ITE graduate and she has done ITE proud without degrees or even diplomas.
You than is confused with all those unncessary fomulas and knowledge.
To be rich, we just need to understand the basic money management principles on how to maximize our profits and nothing more.
Real hands on experiences beats academic studies in some ways for businesses.

Aiyah, you happy can liao.
When you take isolated examples as support for your points, you are already getting confused and falling into your own trap.
There's a reason why such examples are only 1 out of many.
When you have your own success, then you can talk big.

working hard is the element that is a must..
without hardwork in running the business in gaining first hand experience.

it is not an isloated example..
look at bengawansolo..the pioneer grandmother by now who have handed the business to the next generation..last time featured in channel newsasia..
she started the business from selling cakes baking them in the kitchen..correct me if i'm wrong in any details.
simple accounting..and work super hard at selling your products and services

These are called isolated examples.
Why? You go calculate the percentage of ITE grads being super successful in business vs total num of ITE grads
You can list out 100 such persons, and the examples are still limited to <1%. Let's do an underestimate of 1000 such grads a year. Then you calculate the percentage.

than perhaps you can calculate the number of top Singaporeans super rich and compare against the number of singaporeans by birth..
are those not the minority..are those super rich not the top 1%? (same comparison as in successful cadidates versus total number of ITE graduates)
you're telling me that you're trying to deny the fact that people will be successful if they try hard..
are you trying to pick bones from eggs..
i'm just trying to offer only proven facts..

Pls tell me which exact sentence I implied this. I only know I told you hard work is a must.
You are not offering proven facts, but warped statistics. There's a major difference in that.

You have successfully dispelled your earlier examples and proved me right about isolated examples with this paragraph. Thanks.
Btw, I'm not even talking about the truly super rich.
are you trying to pick bones from eggs..
Obviously not.
All I see is that you are still confused. A mere 72 pages of a personal finance book I shared with you, and you tell me it's too many pages. Talk about basic money management principles, and you missed out one of the greatest read on it. That's still ok, but then you complained about the 72 pages. You got some of the theories, but do note that mere knowing and talking big about theories does nothing for you.
Anyway, as I said, you happy can liao. I'm not here to convince you or anything; it's just a normal chit chat forum. Just do whatever you are happy with. Your life and goals anyway. I'm back to my stuff.
@ TS: Starting a business is really not easy. Hard work is a must, yes. But it's not enough. You need the concept, the strategy, target audience, budget, money, goal, analyze market, luck and many more. You need to have the "eye" to see where you can prosper in the market. network is another thing all together.
classic question: How is your product better than the rest such that people will chose your product?
Starting a business yourself actually let you step further into the rat race. Fiercer somemore. A simple way of explaining.
Business is either gaining or losing money. and you HAVE to gain, there is no other route. and so you are entering rat race again with other business fighting for the pie and you will NOT be satisifed with gaining enough as you must bear the idea of losing your money anytime. well, unless you know where to stop the greed and sell your profiting business.
A normal employee can chose to QUIT in the rat race by being satisifed with what one has.

It is with reference to what you said earlier as shown above..you said examples are still limited to <1% isn't it?
Which makes it similar to the comparison of the top 1% of the Singaporean population who are rich..

well said..
With regards to business further into the rat race..from my perspective..it beg to differ..
a tradditional biz is a rat race..as long as an individual is still working hard for money (chasing money) than i agree that the person is in the rat race..but not when the person fire himself/herself.
a business with a proven system (eg: Macdonalds Franchise Owner) does not need to work, investors pay for the system to earn money, and not because of the food they sell, which even Macdonlads they themselve acknowledge that fact.
thus business with a system that automatically generates money without the owner physical involvement is the process of getting out of rat rat by not running in the race anymore..

It's so obvious you are the one picking bones from egg now. Shall leave you to your forte in picking bones.
Anyway, I've said all I have to. It's your choice.
You are merely someone talking and acting big without any tangible results over a forum.

if you think i am..than perhaps..
but from my point of view..i am just stating facts with real life examples..
there's no right or wrong..it's just a matter of having different perspectives..like you have yours while i have mine..so that sums it up..
Quite often, ppl get offensive bcos they are hearing things that they dont like ... especially in the internet world...where everybody hide behind the screens. Anyway TS, u can debate or defend ur view for ages, but ultimately as what the bear has mention, "Even if you win, you still belong to a rat." Think about it, spend less time on forum and do more practical stuff, its for your own good. Success or failure doesnt mean anything sometimes, important is the determination to the goal never dies. Cheers!
Hehe, quite often, youngsters freshly ORDed think they know the world and some secrets that their seniors do not. They have been successfully brain-washed by the ang mo financial engineers.
Determination and perserverance is the key. But if they continue on perservere on the wrong path, it will lead to nowhere.
Some young men talked so much about money, rat's race, etc. But little do they know they're still in the same race. But never mind, young minds are often easily impressed and influenced. Just throw them some little info on financial freedom and rat's race, and they will lap it up like a dog, and clutch to that information thinking only they know it, and it's some secret that everyone else do not know.
They just have to learn it the hard way
.
I'm a rat running a race. I work from 8am to 2am.

Hi,
If you see in any given situation only what everybody else can see, you can be said to be so much a representative of your culture that you are a victim of it.
-- Quote by S. I. Hayakawa.
Every man takes the limits of his field of vision for the limits of the world.

Success is the old ABC - ability, breaks, courage.

I think it's about mindset rather the actual fact that we are all rats..
it's a fact that majority of us are in the rat race like it or not..but not for those born in with the silver spoons who can just take over their family businesses..
than as for defending my view..maybe it is my habit to ensure that i keep track of what's happening in the thread i started..
as for the rat issue..different people have different views, we can change the situation we are in..I based my ideas on Robert's CashFlow Quadrant of the Employee, Self-Employed, Business Owner and Investor setting..
Plus the other thing is try connecting all 9 dots (in a square shapre with 1 dot in the center of the square; like the tic-tac-toe game just without all the lines, replace the slots meant for the O & X with 9 dots) with only 4 lines.
This game is about thinking Out of the Box..once you can connect all the 9 dots together with 4 continuous line than you'll get what I mean..

Well, with regards to that..I've already worked for few years already before I enlisted..and I'm super sick to go back to the rat race after I ORDed.. having to get only a slice of the cheese for a month of hard work..fighting over the same miserable cheese with collegues to remain in that maze..
i think it is more to being brain-washed by the education system..which goes by this: "Study Hard, Work Hard, Get a Good Job, Work Long and get higher Pay for a good life"
the new model i adopt is to become a farmer..planting a tree and getting multiple food in return..getting multiple rewards with one single effort made..that's what the rich are best at..and that's the difference between rags to riches..
the perspective that I hold is to be our own boss and control our own sources of income rather than letting others control it for us..

First and second quote both tells me not to be the frog in the well thinking that the sky is only as big as the shape of the well.
But I don't really understand the third quote; can you explain it?
I think there's another quote which can be associated to both rat race and entrepreneurship..
"Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. - Emerson"
Than as for those minority who are not bothered by rat race and is contented with what they have and is happy with the results..
"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. - Donald J. Trump"

Hehe, it doesn't make you look smart at all when you merely quote from Robert Kiyosaki.
There are so many students in Singapore who read the same book, then tell their school teachers that there's no need for them to study because they just need to start a business and employ pple who studied hard and scored very well.
So many pple are saying the same thing, hehe. What makes you think you are different from the others?
There's this fren who once told me the same thing, and was very enthusiastic about it. Her grades weren't good, and she did not have a uni degree. However, she was very sure she knew a lot about getting out of the rat's race, not by life's experience, but merely by reading books, hehe. Talked a lot about employing smart pple to work for her. Went on for some time.
Now, all fizzles liao.
