the very reason why the whole of the western world calls us third-world. All that crap abt inconvenience is just a cover for those 'elite's' snobbishness against others who arent as talented as they are or just not born with a friggin silver spoon like them. Basically shows u what the upper class of singapore thinks of anyone below them. i guess wee shu min love it wont she? an elite of her own 'kind'? tsk, tsk, tsk :) in the minds of many elites(rich+snobbish+selfish), i guess maid are really just slaves for them huh?

If not mistaken, Filipino maids get higher pay in other countries, so they might not really put in much effort anymore while working in Sinkapore.

the maids like to go Taiwan and Hong Kong to work........ salary much more better than in $inkapore....... but treatment from employer i don know lah......

Anyways what you said about people's snobbishness is very offensive.
I believe it is you and the people like you who are being snobbish.
You are the ones who assume the mantle of elite equality snobs, and you look down on regular people with common sense as lower than you.
So when some people just go about their daily normal lives and apply common sense to their surroundings, some elite snobs like you would pop out and stick your noses, because you think they do not conform to the ideals which would gain approval from "the Western world" - whatever that means.
That is why I stood up and will continue to stand up against this lynching.
People like you are sickening.
You degrade and dehumanize the maids, and you also degrade and dehumanize the condo management people.

everyone needs a life's corner, a forum, a channel to unleash what is in every human their very natural self....
maids need their own corners where they could gather to sing, to laugh, to cry,...let them...
i have suggested maids corner to my condo mgmt ....it was adopted and now they entertain us with their dances, and cooked great bee hoon goreng during our family day....the families and kids just loved them.....
maids are now a very central and indispensable part of all our busy lives

That standing rule has been around for so long already, need one management to send a newsletter to its residents, and one swaku resident to make a hoohah about it to get it reported in that tabloid TNP. tsk tsk tsk, singapore bored until like that meh?

Of the 20 condos polled by TNP, only 18 have that rule, and out of that, 13 of them are enforced upon discretion. Unless someone can tell me these 20 condos are representative of the entire republic of singapore, what is the big farking deal?

condo mgmt would follow the decisions of their councils...for and on behalf of the estate....in line with the building act or watsoever...
the decisions would then reflect the power characteristics, diverse personalities and opinions of the councils.....diff councils diff takes....there r good and there r bad councils...they r just like a little govt and residents the people....no doubt maids are here to work...but well regulated treatment would foster better maids to enjoy working for us as part of our community....and that enjoyment should not be taken for granted...a good and sustainable employer-employee relationship...
ultimately, the treatment of maids in each respective estates differs...
