Basically, if Singaporeans knows how live within their mean, they should be able to live in singapore happily, but sadly, most dun, can be due to peers pressure or advertisment effect, most peoples are spending tomorrow money, which is an accrued liabililties with interest and inflation rates compounding over it.
Why you need a car in singapore? Do you know that many rich in my place here, dun even own a car, cos car to them is an expense, not worthy of investing in it. The most they got is a car provided by their companies. It is the middle and the lower middle income singaporeans that are spending lavishly on luxury goods which put pressure and stress on them to keep up with their stupid spending and buying lifestyle, no wonder shopping malls are building and growing same like BTO flats.
As for jobs that singaporeans do not want, jobs that got the 3Ds in it, dirty, demanding and dangerous do not attract singaporeans, the situation should not blame entirely on singaporeans for not taking up jobs, 3 issues that work development council or whatever in the govt should consider to get singaporeans back to work.
1. Increase pay that can match with the minimum cost of living
2. With an aging population and an affluent youngs, govt should look forward to create jobs base on the aspect of singapore demographic and changing enviroment of our youngs like me. They need to design jobs for the aging and also needs to provide conducive and good paid jobs for the youngs, but instead, the olds are neglected, the youngs face a competitive salary range and jobs with FTs.
3. Create certain employment policies that require firm to employ singaporeans first, and reduce the ratio of FT vs Singaporeans. Formerly, govt said FT helps singaporeans to get jobs, but today, it seems like FT is helping Singaporeans to lose job or get lower paid. That is overboard in a way when you consider you are a singaporeans and why you cannot get a good pay job that match your qualification and experiences.
FT or FW not only takes your job, they also create social problem, like making your drinking water contaminated.
