wa lao... dont b so racist leh...
whenever PRC come up with some negative online comments about SG, we get so worked up and angry... and now, you go and do the same and come up with come lousy racist thread like this.... how can likedat??!!
i suggest all of us here to be more understanding and open minded about PRC whether in china, SG or anywhere in the world... take the trouble to make frens with them and to understand their point of view better
i spend a lot of time in china and i can tell you its never as bad as you make it to be
just slightly over 30 years ago, their country GDP was the same size as Malawi, a little country in Africa.. today it is no. 2 in the world... if within one generation the enviornment and the economy change that much, of cos you will also take time to adjust... and the world will also take time to adjust to you
just as SG in the past got courtesy campaign when we change and develop rapidly in the early years, same promotion and campaign is on-going everywhere in china.. it will take time but i can almost say with certainty that the situation will improve
peace out
obviously i wasn't being racist, i was talking about chinese people and my experiences with them during just 1 week. I dealt with singaporeans and westerners for so many years, and the ratio of rude people vs nice people in those many years are maybe rude people 1 to 100 nice people... the experiences i had was like rude mainland chinese 1 to 5 nice mainland chinese...
fair lah
they oso no like us wat
but i oso dunno why they come here
why on all pleasces on earth you go there for vacation?

I told him I was not local and who on earth know that in their country the practice is to call a security guard 师傅. I refused to call just because of a toilet.
its cultural shock to you?
the hongkongers, taiwanese and PRCs are much more expressive and aggressive than us. its survival instinct to them.
please stop thinking too highly of ourselves. (not directed at pinknutri)
we are indeed a timid lot. we were brought up that way. we may think we are one cultured lot but that doesnt mean we are better.

yah, standing in front of others to block their view is high survival instincts. take dirty plate from their own table put at other people table is survival instincts. yell for your friend at the top of your voice when you're standing beside someone is survival instincts.
Notice if you swap the word "survival instincts" with "rude/inconsiderate/uncultured", the sentences above seem more correct.
I would not say it's survival instincts because as far as i know, singaporeans and westeners have a longer lifespan compared to people from china.
yes it is cultural shock to me. i am shocked in this civilized world, in some cultures humans still behave like dogs.

put it this way, not 100% educated people are courteous, but higher percentage are compared to uneducated people. possibly because in education, we have to work as a team... that's how some people pass their exams without studying at all, lol...

You salah frequency la...we're talking about china. Every country has a different social context.
awww.comon say in mrt...what nationality of the men who did not bother to give way to the ladies/elderly... pushed themselves roughly into the train, so they can board 1st.. and all they care is to whine about the train being overcrowding, price hike day in day out..
hint:..nothwithstanding they are PRC or not, educated or not, office worker of certain status/rank or not., insanity or rational or not..
believe it or not, many times at train, i see prc men and blangah men graciously (and immediately) greeted the elderly and ladies and gave their seats to them while singaporean men (even abled young men) just satt and stared.....blank faced.

alamak, we're talking about the ratio here... if you want to go without ratio, then logic is flawed. 1 guy can jump down from a 9 storey building, survived it, so he can say jump down from 9 storey high is totally safe, because he survived it, but how many people can survive a 9 storey high fall???
for every 1 survivor, there can be 30 deaths.
similarly for every 1 rude singaporean, there might be many nice gracious ones. singaporeans are generally helpful and kind hearted. i have never stated there are no rude singaporeans because we know that is not true. but i was stating the experiences within 1 week with those people and the ratio of rude people vs kind people of that nationality is really sad.
i'm not racist as i'm a chinese myself, why would i go scolding my own race. but facts are facts, if a chinese beat up a malay guy for no reason, i would help the malay guy. it's not about the race here, it's about the attitude and character of the people.
if you give way to someone, you generally think he will appreciate the gesture but instead he push you and block your view, now that's unacceptable behavior.

sure or not. i also see lots of foreign trashes do the opposite. i also see lots of people giving up seats, in a very crowded situation. damn courtesou here and there in the end the whole sardine packed trains become worse. some also never want the seats anyway just want the bloody train to move and so they can rech their desitnation. also many commuters move like they own the train train so slow not prompt in a crowded situation, this type i just ram through.

you are just biased against the PRCs.
there is no good and bad in any races or nationalities. its the individual. stop giving yourself and singaporeans too much credit.
Well one thing for sure, I have never seen Singaporeans queueing right up behind another as if preparing for sodomy. PRC? Plentiful.

Alamak,..eh..what got to do with jumping and taking lives and beatings? :D
oh well, take it easy...:) There are good people and there are bad sheeps... irregardless of race/origin/status/country. I just saw 2 angmoh blocking the train door inconsiderately, and its not peak hour somemore...
u titled this thread as PRC men as rude... most of us do not agree so...no doubt they are agressive and loud in nature (I have seen what kind of condition they live in where they come from, and they have to "fight" for a living), but in all fairness, via character and by heart, they do have a kind side too.
During my recent trip to Tibet/China, I encountered a few rude China pple in their own country as well *i just rolled my eyes*..On a brighter note, there were lots of nice strangers who truly helped us during our road trips, and they did not want anything in return. :)
Let it go lah...

I think the situation is improving with the reserved seats tag and pple starts to realise, do they really need the seat so desperately at all? ... it's like an auto gesture to give seats to the needy... :)
...sadly, there are many self-centred gobloks who hogged the seats as their own...haiz...
anyway, let me share some unpleasant scenrio during my trip too.
on my way back from Emei Shan to Chengdu on a local tour group, the bus was already packed.
the driver was trying to save money and did not switch on the aircon.. we had to open the window for some air.... the driver earned side $ by picking up more passenger to piggyride on our chartered bus.. one particular father and son pair took our seats.
all of us were sweating like mad.. we told them to open up the windows as least we (the paying tourists) get some ventilation.. he ignored us and told us he did not want his hair ruffled..
that was the last straw, I stood up (towering over him) and told him loudly (so whole bus tourists can hear), if he continued to be so selfish and , he would be kicked out of the bus on the dark highway, This bus was solely chartered by us.!
He was shocked and obliged.. he was not happy but kept very quiet, his poor son was so embrassed and apologised many times.. we forgave the son but not the father..
Different culture, different places bred different people...
.....................
Even at holiest temples at Tibet, where their most upmost respected diety is rested in front of them! They literally pushed and cursed at their own fellow people loudly on the same holy ground, they can jump queue and get what they want 1st.... and they were supposed to learn to be "pure heart", "be gracious", "forgiveness" and attain alightenment!!....... where dieties are watching on them...around them!!
I went -.-""
its norm for them to behave tis way. if they don then they are not from china liou

haiyah, i know what you mean... my work place last time got china men as my colleagues and we're good friends... i never say all of them are bad, but i have to repeat 100 times ah... this thread was created because of my 1 week bad experiences with those bad apples (and i need to release my anger somewhere and here seems the perfect venue without having to express my anger in physical form)... this thread was not written to be against ALL china people... if during that 1 week, i have bad experiences with americans, the thread will be my experiences with americans, but it just happen those people in the bad experiences were china men... i mean all 3 bad experiences are them, either i am really unlucky or something...
in any case, i dun want to argue lah, waste your time, waste my time, i just want to say, those were my personal experiences with them, not representative of all china men... i understand got nice china people too. the thread was created to release my anger because of those 3 stupid experiences with those china people, spoilt the whole image.
my title could have been more appropriate, but my 3 experiences were on china men, lol, so initially first thought come to put as title is rude china men, lol...

i never say other nationalities not like that lah... we know that is impossible... even rich people can be greedy and bargain over $1, what else is not possible...
to say I am biased against PRCs is incorrect. to say I am biased against rude PRCs with poor manners, you are correct.
i agree with you its the individual and in this case, happens those individuals spoilt the whole image of china people. credit must be given where it's due. if singaporeans act badly, we also complain right? look at stomp... when singaporeans are bad, people also complain, it's not about the nationality here.
