The internet is merely a communication tool. It doesn't make you stupid. You are probably stupid to begin with.

Let me explain....
Internet is not like a book....
In a book....there is beginning, there is middle, there is end.....
There is a story and a content.
But internet is different.......information is often superficial, and there is content overload.....and there is lots of bad information too....
I just feel the time I use on the internet is making me stupid.
I feel this way.
Besides, internet is a two-sided coin, on one hand it is possible to read and learn new things, but on the other hand, it is just dumb entertainment like surfing internet forums or watch video clips.
I must say, I am embarassed to admit, my time on the internet is really a net negative.
If I still live in 1995 era, I would probably be smarter, wiser, more mature. But the internet is dumbing me down.

i think the internet is like fire.u can make good use in hands of smart people....of course if u give to a careless person...he would get burnt....maybe die even.

Here's my opinion. I learn more from the internet, faster and more effectively, than from my textbooks and lecture notes.
It depends how you use it I suppose. If you have the intention to be entertained, you will seek entertainment regardless of the medium.
For instance, it is your leisure time, you can choose to play soccer, watch TV, or play MMORPGs. Without the internet, you will still be either watching TV or playing football.
In a nutshell, with or without the internet, it is up to the user's discretion what to use it for. It all boils down to the individual's time management.

It depends in the objective of the users... I've spent my fair shaur of youth into gaming... I've indulge myself with porn... but I learnt to be discerning and non judgmental from my time in various forums...
You can learn to build a dirty bomb, or remedies for common ailments. You can find out anything that you wanna know... I don't think it will make people stupid, but it'll definitely make people lazy and develop a depency...

Internet has its advantages and disadvantages.
You can serach for something you want to do.
Or you can just pass your time surfing the net.
Make one stupid? Not really at all. I am sure 10 out of 9.5 surf at home. Stupid? Then majority of sporean stupid liao right?
