Hey, our mother tongue and english might not be as good as native countries..but its feasible to a large extent. I think other countries can still understand us.
Oh ya, I think it will greatly hone our language if we actually stayed at the native speaking countries for a few years..that might help.cos, seriously, I dunno why but my friends think speaking chinese well(in the pronouncing aspect) is unatural to them..I can speak like that. But my frens cant accept it..

Are you sure? I have a hard time figuring out what some Singaporeans are trying to say, eshpecially wen chiu tok lyk dis.
Don't let anyone tell you that speaking grammatically and phoenetically inferior Mandarin and English is acceptable. Singaporeans have a thing for knocking people who try to do well.

Lee Kuan Yew is quite a poor guy actually, squeezed between chinese and malays, while himself belonging in the minority peranakan group. Even had to adopt a fake chinese persona to start his political career.
How good is Lee Kuan Yew's baba malay and bahasa malay?
The only good thing about Lee Kuan Yew and his baba clique is that it gave them unity and prevented any serious power struggle within the PAP.
After the split between Lim Chin Siong and Lee Kuan Yew in 1961, discords inside PAP were not that serious.
The split was probably unavoidable, Lim Chin Siong coming from the majority dialect chinese group who had very little rights in Singapore and Lee Kuan Yew coming from the privileged peranakan group favoured by the british.
One group was very anti-imperialist and anti-colonial, while the other was only using the anti-colonial cause as a cover to further his own agenda.
Even till this day, the PAP still cannot draw any real popular support.
Minority rule over majority for over 50 years. No real popular support. Nationalism weak.
I think it is time for this situation to end in Singapore.
For this reason, I can never support the PAP.
wah informative sia....nice post . :) thanks thanks........
