Are most of Chinese here in Singapore weak in mandarin?

Not all Indian people are Tamilians.
Singapore Indians are made up from Tamils, Malayalees, Kannadigas, Telaganas, Gujaratis, Bhojpuris, Bengalis, Punjabis, Sindhis, Hindis, Oriyas and many more.
To make Tamil as the only official language for "Indians" is wrong.

Peranakan's mother tongue should be baba malay, not english. So malay restored as dominant language can also be considered as restoring peranakan language.

To restore Malay as the dominant language is not equal to restoring the peranakan language.
The Peranakan language is considered a separate tongue from Malay with it's own distinctive vocabulary, grammar and phonetic structure.
If Peranakan language is given the substatus of Malay, it will doom one day also.

just make all lessons are to be teach in chinese will do. english they ownself will go and learn for communication purpose. or maybe chinese and english lesson swap over. 1 lesson for english and other all taught by chinese. somehow chinese language is out root. we MUST NOT LET THEM DISAPPEAR IN OUR DAILY LIFE

My chinese is horrible.
Perhaps one way to improve the mandarin level would be upgrading our local ch8 dramas. If you can get people addicted to the show, they would have greater exposure to the language. -

english is a national language yes i agree, but is for communication only. i became very traditional these 2 years, so i still prefer chinese remains as communication tools for next 100 1000 10000 100000000 years
