  Doctors report 3 cases of 'sari cancer'

  NEW DELHI - The sari has long been admired for its revealing elegance, but according to doctors looks are not everything: Some women who wear them could be at greater risk of cancer, The Daily Telegraph reported.
  
  Cases of cancer have been discovered in women who wear the traditional petticoat too tightly under their saris.
  
  According to an article in the November issue of the Journal of the Indian Medical Association, doctors at the Grant Medical College in Mumbai have reported three recent cases of what they call "sari cancer".
  
  The doctors believe the women contracted the disease through skin irritation from knotting their petticoats too tightly in the same position over a long period of time.
  
  Although they have only found three cases, they believe that there may be many unrelated cases in India's vast rural hinterland where access to cancer specialists is rare.
  
  "This condition does not occur overnight, the cases we have found were wearing saris for over 30 years and had persistent irritation along the waistline for over 5 years," said Dr G D Bakshi, associate professor of surgery at the Grant Medical College.
  
  Women could reduce the risk by loosening their petticoats or using wider belts that reduce pressure on the area.

  Aussie bus company gives S$20m to employees

  Employees of an Australian bus company have been given a A$15 million (S$20 million) share of the proceeds of the business sale as a thank-you for their loyalty.
  
  The 1,800 staff at Melbourne-based Grenda Corp have received bonuses averaging more than A$8,300 and as much as A$30,000 after the Grenda family sold the 66-year-old business for A$400 million, the Herald Sun newspaper reported yesterday.
  
  "We sat down and thought: 'How can we thank the people that have got us to where we're going to end up?' and it was a fairly easy decision for us," chief executive Geoff Grenda told Nine Network television, referring to his father Ken and brother Scott.
  
  The staff will keep their jobs under the new owner.
