Offering Foreigners Scholarships/PR

when we go work in other countries, the most we are known as is "foreign workers"
when others come here, they are known as "foreign talents"and then got new terms like, new immigrants, new citizens......
got hear other countries use these?

what happens here happens in other countries too. foreigners come here and work, get PR, get scholarship. some singaporeans do the same in another country. so its fair. if you want to blame. blame yourself for not having the pedigree to be invited.

NMP asked: how these scholarship holders are tracked to ensure that they fulfil their obligation and the MP went on presenting statistics on how well the foreigner performed vs the locals.
seems that one of the MPs was having difficulty in comprehending a NMP's question.

The Goatherd and the Wild Goats
A Goatherd, driving his flock from their pasture at eventide, found some Wild Goats mingled among them, and shut them up in a cave together with his own for the night.
The next day it snowed very hard, so that the Goatherd could not take the herd to their usual feeding places, but was obliged to keep them inside the cave. He gave his own goats just enough food to keep them alive, but fed the wild goats more abundantly, hoping that by doing so, they would stay with him and join his herd.
When the snow thawed, the Goatherd led them all out to feed, and the Wild Goats scampered away as fast as they could to the mountains. The Goatherd scolded them for their ingratitude in leaving him, when during the storm he had taken more care of them than of his own herd.
One of the Wild Goats, turning about, said to him: “That is the very reason why we are so cautious; for if you yesterday treated us better than the Goats you have had so long, it is plain also that if others came after us, you would in the same manner prefer them to ourselves.”
Moral: Don’t sacrifice old citizens for new FT pets.Times are bad.
Some people will kick you in the gonads.

the word talent is very important. if u are good in studies, other country also will ask u to stay and give u grant . we got no talent pool thats y

It is like a human trade, govt buy human from other countries and other countries buy our sg humans out. In a long run, you can see only foreigners running by a group of Singaporean govt.

If the university doesn't want to listen to us, perhaps they may listen to a former scholar whom the government has once invested in.

Why Sg govt is offering PR / scholarships to foreigners is obvious. first they can boost their unis international ranking, Second they can bond them for a few years and there is a certain % of them will become Sg citizens, then guarantee them votes for the PAP in the next erection !! Theres nothing to benefit them to offer all sporeans places in national uni. Cos they know from experience if they do so, most who graduate will flock to another country !! Only 25% of whole sg population get to enter local unis, so the remaining 75% of you if you want a uni degree, you have to do it privately !! And just out of NS, without much savings, you would definitely have to take up a study loan !! But after taking that study loan you'll be in debt !! And to repay that debt you have to work !! And you'll have to work at least for a few years before your debt can be paid off in full !! So the govt they tie you up for good to contribute to their economy and GDP !! Which in turn they will use to justify their high salaries !! This whole thing is just a big government conspiracy, all to benefit themselves !!!
