Last week, i went to changi airport with my friends to do some revision for my examinations. And we decided to study overnight in macdonalds, and there are really lots of Singaporeans studying and mugging hard for their examinations. And around past midnight, we came across some americans, and they are like reading a book listening to some pop music. My friends and i are wondering why Singaporeans focus on education so much, and we strongly feel that we should focus on the things we love to study , and not just science, chinese lit, etc. But i definitely feel we are at great advantage as we are all train to be bilingual in Singapore. Is the education system in Singapore making we Singaporeans to be so stress up ? Perhaps this is why there are more people coming out to make videos of themselves and start to rant about their lives. Sorry for the bad english, kamsahamida!

If you are chinese in Singapore, you are studying not one but two foreign languages in school, so you are bound to be more stressed.
The goals of the Speak Mandarin campaign included improving communication between Chinese speech groups, teaching people to read Chinese, and promoting Confucianism.
Some critics argued that children were expected to learn two foreign languages in school (English and Mandarin) and that for some students the result was fluency in neither.

Mugging is normal for us Asians. That's just how we roll.
The result ; We don't suffer from unemployment, debt and other bullsh*t like our Ang Moh cousins. *sniff*
The side- effect ; Asians are always unhappy and unsatisfied with life.
Is this a fair trade ? You decide.
By the way, by Asians, I'm reffering to people of Chinese, Japanese and Korean descent only. The majority of the others are incompetent.

It's not about the race. It's about the culture and society. Singaporean society is too globalized to sustain continuous material development. Not every Singaporean is willing to work/ study 15 hours a day. In other words, Singaporeans like to relax also lah.
This is not the case in China, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan. All 4 countries are not very globalized. Thus, local culture and society is sustainable. These people live in shame societies. In other words, a sort of kiasu- culture. They must be good at everything. If not, just commit suicide.
This is what I meant by the Asians. It's not a racial thing, but rather a cultural and social one. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I did not mean to sound racist.
