Look like the tides had changed, now those working double hard asians are getting the fruits they planted, and the western is having trouble with debts

I believe we've already established that.

Ahh, that one is tough to explain. Basically, Singapore is too vulnerable to foreign intervention. This can be the case in both economics and society. SG is not independant from the outside world, unlike the only two successful Asian countries IMHO ; Japan and South Korea. Singaporeans are too globalized to build a unique nation. This doesn't have to be a bad thing. Uniqueness is a bonus after all. Just my 2 cents.

Uhhh okayyy, is that a good or bad thing ? I'm going with the former. ![]()

Nonsense, this is a racial stereotype. There is no superior race, only superior culture and society.

who said?
wow singaporeans have to spend 15 hours per day working/studying???
we only have 24 hours per day, 8 hours spent on sleeping, 3 hours spent on meals (assuming we take 3 meals per day)
left with 13 hours
(how abt leisure/exercising?)
no wonder they say singaporeans got no life
something is wrong with your lifestyle if you need to spend 15 hours per day on school-related activities
during my uni days i spent up to 4 hours per day slacking, watching tv, going to shopping centres and explore, playing computer games haha
american kids don't even touch their books during saturdays and sundays right?

I never said Singaporeans spend 15 hours a day working. I was implying that people from Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan DO. Not Singapore. At least, not EVERYONE in Singapore.
Anyway, the main reason why the Ang Mohs are suffering from financial crisis is their flawed sense of racial security, society and lack of commitment in work ethics. They don't work more than 10 hours a day, stay at home and play too much video games/ watch TV. Just my observations. The consequences are quite obvious today, of course. Too late for them now, Europe is half- dead and America is going to soon, in economic terms of course.
Except Germany. Those guys are the only ones who got it right.
okay, i a bit not sound.
i fear retaining.
i even fear going to ITE(the end for me)

but still despite the debts they incur, the westerners are still the ones with the brains and intelligence
just take a look at the technological gadgets around us
eg iphones/handphones, internet, computers, automobiles, aeroplanes, ships, electricity, airconditioning, X-ray/MRI/CT scanning
many of the innovations that changed the world were still discovered and engineered by western scientists who are cleverer
that's what make the difference between the thinkers/innovators (westerners) and doers/workers (asians)
wealth accumulation done by the brute-force approach of working for long hours (15 hours per day) is no big deal, although asians still must be respected for being hardworking, the westerners can easily do it if they opt to..
the western ang mohs can afford to be slack and lazy these days cos their forefathers were smarter...
but for asians, they know they need to work hard cos their forefathers are not that smart
yes, times are different and the tide has changed, the westerners are getting tired of making money and accumulating wealth and are now sitting back to enjoy
it's now the asians who are obsessed with getting rich
tomas dude,
u are right, the east are addicted to work, work is their hobby. =)
the america dont have to work, dont have to study hard and dont have to save. if they run out of money they just print..
the europe also dont have to work. they just enjoy. if they need money they just borrow. all they need to do is to tell the east. if u dont lend me money. your export will doom, your economic will doom and u will have no more work that u are enjoying now.
they will keep lending money, bailout after bailout because they love to work. lol

it's becos western people have no fear of failing.
singaporeans all fear of failing exams, fail exams = doom, that's what we learn.

US dollar status as world’s single reserve currency will end by 2025
"Longer term, the report said that China's Yuan could take on an ever-increasing role in the international monetary system. This could help resolve massive imbalances that have Beijing holding the largest stock of foreign exchange reserves while the country also serves as the world's largest exporter. Changes undertaken by Chinese officials to modernize their country's financial systems “are beginning to have an effect in laying the foundation for the Yuan taking on a more important global role.”
The Yuan is not fully convertible at the moment - take a period of time for currency trading infrastructures - institutions, regulations and legislations going thru the rigor and falling into place.
If the Yuan is fully convertible - will be subjected to currency attack and speculation. China doesn't has hard reserved as a security-of-last-resort. US has. Despite all the woos and naysayers and despite US mismanagement of its economy, north America has the world largest deposit of oil - and it real size and deposit has not been fully determined yet.
Nothing is certain of the future now. But it is really hard to imagine the Yuan as a future reserved currency. Also, not India's currency where the only 'real' asset is its billion size human.

Cultures, rate of economic growths among these nations are too diverse.
But the main reason why common currency is not possible is what Paul Krugman (in recent ST's editorial article) said about the Euros.
The main reason why the European crisis cannot be resolved is because Germany cannot appreciates its currency to reflect its economic buoyancy and thus ride on the strength of its currency to help resolve the crisis and Greece cannot depreciates its currency so as to price its export cheaper and export more out of the crisis.
Common currency is good when things are smooth sailing but when a crisis strikes, the fat man cannot slim down and the thin man cannot put on more weight.
NMHO, a joint or common currency among the BRICS is also not possible.

You are somewhat right.
However, the saying that the Ang Mohs are SMARTER than Asians is not true. Western- educated Asians who grow up in Europe and America are JUST as smart, if not smarter than the white people. The same goes for the other races.
The problem is our Asian culture and society. Asian culture and society is flawed in many aspects. Us Asians seldom take the initiave to innovate. However, we make up in other areas, such as hard work and dedication, as you mentioned above.
Anyway, my point is that this isn't a racial thing. It's a social and cultural one. There is no superior race, only superior culture and society. In that context, Western culture and society is superior to Asian culture and society in certain aspects, but inferior in others, and vice- versa.
