HK, of coz the pple understood cantonese >___>
HK, the people are mostly cantonese, of course they understand cantonese dialect.
Singapore, the chinese people are mainly hokkiens, teochews, people from southern china etc, so these people also understand hokkien and teochew dialect.
MTR there is of course seamless, in fact Tube & MTR were used as living models for our MRT back in 1980s.
wonder if the Italian understood wen i try to order pizza?
How to make a judgement on a few days stay?
I have to agree. I stay in Hong Kong for about 2 months each year and it seems like the crowds have not prevented the seamless operation of the public transport system. The problem I think with Singapore is that unlike Hong Kong, our people don't take pride in their jobs and companies there are not just concerned about profits but about brand imaging as well. A fine example would be the immaculate conditions of the buses there. Even the oldest Dennis Dragons are in pristine condition and no visible soot can be spotted, which speaks for the apt maintenance. In Singapore, even the newer Citaros are spewing soot and getting extremely dirty on the outside. What Singapore lacks is the desire to serve and do one's job properly and with pride, of which the latter still has a long way to go.
One thing I notice abt their MTR... Their ppl really really let u alight before going in... where as here usually u see ppl trying to squeeze in and not letting ppl out...
and yes, I hear plenty of pinoy who speak tagalog and can speak cantonese too...
Ok I take it MTR is good. I wonder whether MTR is run as a commercial company or some govt or quasi-govt entity. Are their fares cheaper than spore or the same? Are HK public more civic minded than spore travellers? Do HKgers keep pressing MTR to keep fares low? Are there subsidies from the govt? Sorry I am ignorant about this.

Cantonese dialect is a backward and useless language. Generally speaking, dialect speaking people are economically worthless, culturally backward and less developed as compared to non dialect areas.
I am surprised that foreigners would want to speak cantonese in HongKong.
Cantonese and other dialect speakers have no future.
Look at China, all the most backward areas are the dialect speaking southern provinces like Guangdong, Fujian, Hainan and HongKong. Taiwan is also backward.
do not go overboard MTR, they too face breakdown but at least they do not describe theirs as World class and it is seamless
HK has it's fault, hey for all the Singapore issue, for me i still support my Singapore, even though F Trash are every where, which is truly sad state of affair, HK is not great as you all make it out you gotta eat ,sleep, work like HK then you will feel the pain,m
For me Singapore is my home, I do not care WTF the guy post, SIngapore is always in my heart whenever i am overseas, bud
you can take this to the Bank
Hong Kong, foreigners and aliens go there, they must speak the local cantonese.
Singapore, foreigners and aliens come here, they don't have to learn local languages at all.
It is the Singaporeans that must submit and follow them, speak the language of aliens and foreigners.
This means HK cannot attract foreign talent. They have no pride at all.
I think Hong Kong has no future.
we need to have 100% pee arse and foreign trash then can be efficeint - the hiwtes are working towards that -moreover like that during election 100% will be their votes - mayb no need even vote anymore - democratic - canheg to communisn - since no free dom to voet no need vote anymore
MTR breakdown, you still really got buses to bring you to town... But maybe gotta squeeze..
MTR their side is commercialised, BOT system.
Food in HK maybe cheap, but seriously not on tpt and housing... I think you can kiss goodbye onto finding a HDB bedroom size...

Interestingly, in my recent visit I noticed that HK prices of those shoe box sized apartments in Mid levels parallel the prices of Singapore's shoe box flats in Shenton way and Orchard road . Infact some of their shoe box apartments are slightly cheaper then those in Singapore! The probable reasons being that Singapore prices are rising too fast with the amount of speculative investment by foreigners and single Singaporeans who can't qualify for HDB. Indeed dining out is much cheaper in HK than in Singapore across grades, typed and levels of food served.
Well true abt the speculation.. But end of the day, we gotta realise this kind of housing is only meant for singles and seriously how to live sia...
try not to compare price that way
HKD depreciates from 5.5 HKD to 6.23 HKD per 1 SGD in the last two years
when i went HK two weeks ago everything seems cheaper, but whether people can afford it there or not is different thing

i am assuming you are joking right???!
Guangdong is backward region?? its the largest province in China by GDP....
Cantonese is backward and useless?? try telling that to over 104million people here in guangdong and over 7million here in hong kong...

foreigners in hong kong don't have to learn cantonese because english is common and widely used.. but many take the trouble to learn anyway
i think hong kong has a much more greater identity and culture than what singapore has tried so pitifully to achieve despite that its not an independent country on its own.... there are many hong kongers as well as foreigners in hong kong who love hong kong and identify themselves proudly with hong kong
hong kong has been, and will continue to be, an improtant part of china's economic development

which place don't need to eat, sleep, work if you are based there?
but you right... everyplace has its good and bad.. its pains and joys
also right that at least MTR did not go around to describe itself as world class.... but overall i need to say that in terms of public transport... the subways, trains, buses, mini-bus, taxis, etc. in hong kong beats the singapore system hands down
eh..
for those who knows the mini bus issue well, their govt dun want it actually... Road nuisance... Lots of beating red light, speeding incidents.
