Singapore now has got the highest cancer incidence rate in asia
Our cancer rate is much higher than that of our neighbouring countries malaysia, indo and thailand
http://www.nccs.com.sg/pbcation/CU/vol1_06/p8.htm
and the rate is projected to soar in the next few decades
with more and more people stricken by illness, you call this good life or good quality of life when more and more people have to go to hospitals for chemotherapy and treatment?
People here a chaffing under a nanny state, but clamor for a more nanny situation.
I agree with No.5
It is for the government to bring the country up to par with the rest of the world.
It is for the individual to grab as much of the pie as possible. The bigger the pie, the more an individual can grab.
The pie has to get bigger in the first place before you too can become one of Singapore's millonaire. Or move on to become one.
there is a price for being too greedy and materialistic and too modernized and industrialized
exercise some restraint, enough is enough
Growth will improve lives if the benefits are channeled to the workers. ![]()
Life for workers will be the same if the top keep getting more leaving the workers with real peanuts, not those flawless diamond peanuts Ministers are getting. ![]()
Pay of cleaners in developed countries are many times ours and Singapore is already a highly industrialized economy. So where has all the money gone? ![]()
pay decreases each time they recruit foreigners for the cleaning jobs. a local cleaner is getting 300.
damn the papigs for not protecting locals. Damn them the greedy despots

Yes plan for the benefit of the masses.
The masses plan for the benefit of themselves.
Or fail to plan.

got growth as u can see around.....but all the movie tickets and popcorn they keep for themselves.
1st world economy doesn't mean 1st world society.
Know the difference
What growth? Growth in their salary !!!!!! Damn the Papigs leechgime!
Do some honest soul-searching,
compared to a malaysian or thai or indonesian, do we think our lives are superior compared to them?
whatever we have...they have it....
Modern high-rise housing/condos - they have plenty of them in KL / Bangkok
Modern shopping centres - they have plenty of them in KL / Bangkok
Modern airport - they have it too..
Education/Campuses with modern lecture threatres and facilities - they have those too
Recreation eg. Casinos/Resorts - they have it..in fact more than us..
Food - they have it
Healthcare - they have it..in fact..our colorectal and breast cancer rates are double that of theirs!!
Iphones/internet/ipads/electronic gadgets - they have it
High-end modern cars - they have it..in fact it's readily affordable even to the average citizens in Malaysia and thailand
Rail transportation/MRT/buses - they have it
jobs - they have it
work/life balance - theirs is better than us
Millionaires/billionaires - you think there are no millionaires/billionaires in malaysia and thailand? Is there a need to make a big hype over exactly how many millionaires/billionaires
low corruption rate - you really think Singapore don't have corruption or low corruption as what your government proclaim?? ha ha ha...heard of this? "you can do anything you want..but just don't get caught"...
low crimes/safety/security - for your info, Malaysia is today the safest country in SE Asia, it's no longer Singapore

in singapore, if you are unlucky, the taxi you travel in can easily get whacked by a ferrari/lexus speedster
if you are unlucky, you can easily be knocked down by a right-turning bus even though you have the right of way
if you are unlucky, your taxi can get hijacked and you can get beaten up unconscious
if you are unlucky, someone with mental stress/bipolar disorder/depression will yell at you and threaten to slap you and order you to get out of the bus if you press the bus bell too late
i do not know if the following adage sounds familiar...."So what if we have lots of money but losing our health and happiness?"
of course we are not saying one should be a couch potato waiting to be fried...
but a balanced approach with economics of care injected in capitalism is the optimal outcome....we should still sustain in the race...but not necessary be first in everything..
but we should all be forewarned of the dangers of communism...it has and will never work in competitive globalized economies...

Why do you think many of them sent their kids to study in Singapore for? But rarely do I hear of Singaporeans relishing to live in JB Batam or Bintan and moving their whole families there.
the main reason for them to send their kids here is not that they envy singapore
how many stay after their schooling?
