Go ask PAP.
Ask our govt.
i don't
Well, I agree mostly, only disagree with this part...
Why keep out foreigners from low paying jobs like construction
So are you saying the construction workers are mostly singaporeans???
heart pain when i see old singaporean auntie/uncle still having to work, as cleaners
i) Why do we believe foreigners are better that they should lead as CEO and senior executives and relegate Singaporeans to low paying jobs. Why keep out foreigners from low paying jobs like construction and welcome foreigners as PMET? Shouldn’t that be the other way around? ii)One reason often cited is global competition for top talent. But doesn’t Singapore produce top talents as well?We invited foreign scholars who are trash (scolding us as dogs, post pornography) to our land for what purpose. Really, Is there a need to kowtow to these foreigners?

Let me answer two of your points laa
The majority of businesses now in Singapore are Global, therefore
"we" Singaporeans do not have a say whether or not a foreigner or
Singaporean should lead as the CEO or senior executives. It is ultimately a decision
being made by an overseas executive.
The reality of the matter is that the majority of Singaporeans do not have the
experience that a global company requires at this level. The reason being, is
the majority have not worked overseas and gained experience of how western
Global companies work. But more importantly it is a common conception that
Singaporeans are unable to think "outside the box" and have a rigid
focus. This compiled with the fact that most Global companies do not wish to be
represented by someone who has not completely grasped the Global way of
speaking English is also hindering Singaporeans moving up the chain within Global
enterprises.
The most successful Singaporeans are those who have "flown the nest"
gained valuable experience in USA/UK/Europe, have progressed, then brought not
only that experience, but an understanding of the western corporate culture
with them.
Singapore does produce highly educated individuals, but education doesn't necessarily
covert to business acumen, leadership qualities and an understanding of Western
work culture.
Singapore is a small country, and has cultivated a very contracted viewpoint,
this is one of our challenges laa
Ask the 60.1%
It is you who believe.... dont represent other ppl...

Is there any local company hiring foreigner for CEO position? I don't think so...
Dear Zulkifi Mahmood,
Your point is a very strong and valid one indeed laa
One thing the smart and forward thinking Japanese government initiated in the 90's with some success was a partnership with the American government/corporations. The premise of the agreement essentially allowed a significant % of Japanese professionals to work in similar level positions for a period of time (usually for a 2 yr or 3year period) within American corporations and vice-versa which opened the eyes of both nations and helped with a better understanding and an increased harmony in terms of understanding, especially in terms of the culture within Enterprise.
An interesting idea..
And if we are talking about securing the CEO positions and Executive Director roles within global companies, it's fair to assume that the trend is not going to change anytime soon.
My advice: if you are looking to move up within a global company, move overseas for a few years, even if the role is a perceived demotion in terms of responsibility and upon your return to Singapore, your worth will be two-fold laa
Sometimes also very indignant abt those AngMo who I deem retarded ate holding better positions and better pay... Life, man
it is just like we always have Singaporeans or HK people to be senior managors in international companies Chinese office. I don't think it is related to descrimination or something. I would rather see this fact as a tradeoff between localizaiton and emphasize of corporate culture and mission. One of the reason why Singapore appeals top talents is its friendly environment to foreigners. Anyway, with friendly and open policy to foreign talents, the labor market will be more competitive.

I know of a Singaporean guy who was posted overseas to work as GM. After contract he came back and had bad time looking for job. There are admin jobs Singaporeans can do but the govt approve to let foreigners do them.
Go ask the scumbags who wear white uniform on National Day about it. If money and self serving are not the top priority Singaporeans employees and job seekers will have better life.
.
Just to make your feel better, do your know that the past National Day's songs like "Count On Me Singapore", and "We Are Singapore" were written by a Canadian named Hugh Harrison? And just recently, I read that for this year National Day's song, there are a lot of negative feedback from song written by Elaine Chan and Selena Tan. So FT or Local better? Your decided !
I have no qualms about foreigners who take the top tier jobs based on merit, and experience. However, if they want a leg up, they must integrate into our local work culture, not the other way round.
For instance, every company I've worked in so far, be it foreign based MNC, japanese, or ang mor, would always take the time to do the annual hungry ghost prayers, and offering.
But this ang mor MNC i am currently in hor, VP is Indian, 5 years here, in their new office, not once has it been done.
I'm not saying it will bring bad luck, but it reflects on the management. To me, its always the smallest things that add up.
