depending on how you look at things, people would have different types of perspectives.
a majority of singaporeans think that the angmohs are high class whilst the banglas are dirty.they look up to the angmohs and stay away from banglas.
without the angmohs, we can still employ singaporeans as CEOs or higher ranks as we have local talents BUT w/o the banglas, who(referring to singaporeans) would really want to work six days a week under the hot sun for long hours to build buildings that may take atleast 2-3 years to build?

For instance, every company I've worked in so far, be it foreign based MNC, japanese, or ang mor, would always take the time to do the annual hungry ghost prayers, and offering.
But this ang mor MNC i am currently in hor, VP is Indian, 5 years here, in their new office, not once has it been done.
I'm not saying it will bring bad luck, but it reflects on the management. To me, its always the smallest things that add up.
You gotta understand indians and ang mos are different. Ang mos are generally ready to embrace the local practices any where they go. Indians are more conservative and reserve and stick to their very own custom, tradition and practices.
That is called culture difference.

What you said is already well accepted and understood by the majority.
Our govt holds high regards for foreign workers more than local workers.
immigrants build this country.

Build the building of this country, I agree.
Who are those who hold foreigners in high regard?? Not everybody hold them in high regard. They have their purpose in morden day employment purposes.

The above mentioned are modern day criteria necessary to survive in the GLOBAL market now!! YES GLOBAL!!! Its the same for every country like it or not! Even education modules are catering to the global or neighbouring market these days
And once again read this...under content 04 Hiring and developing a Singaporean Core things are changing...
Tripartite guidelines on fair employment practices
And one question to my fellow Singaporeans..Instead of complaining about those so called "Foreign Talents" why don't you try to out do them instead? Or use them as a motivation to get better??
Has this ever crossed your mind that maybe you aren't genuinely as good as those "foreginers" when comparing merits alone?!?!
We can honestly learn alot from ancient CHINA! How they were invaded by the 8 power allied force and were bullied due to inferior military and technologies but eventually they managed to win certain wars against those "foreign invaders" with their own technology...There are many countries that have done that.....

china n 8 power force?the boxer wars....china lost actually....hong kong was taken by british,,,,,,hmm..goin to read up.
now i remeber....its a history that no western country dare publicise.it all started because england wanted to sell opium to china and china didnt want opium to turn citizens to drug addicts.
so......................the war started because some foreign country wanted to be a drug baron..drug dealer or drug cartel.so they roped in 8 other nations and tried to share the wealth.
china in reality lost..their imperial palace was violated and parts of it were taken away such as hong kong... plus they had to pay vast amount of $$$$$ to the 8 nations every year as compensation for the war for 39 years from 1900.
unfair and sad..
Hmmmm.....
Maybe that war wasn't a good example.......I know china lost but during the rebellion they did try to turn thing around although too late..
That aside they also realised what the foreginers had and how advance their technologies were and learned certain trade regulations/items/customs. This help to vastly improve the country overall..it became a motive for the country to imrpove too ..
Lets just say neighbouring countries within SEA are advancing upon us. If we ourselves don't start to improve but continue to be arrogant, ignorant and keep thinking we are still superior to them (which is not true)..we will become obsolete eventually...
is it that hard to keep population size at certain level and at same time keep economy growing???

It is possible. About the latest population size target it has reached beyond acceptance by Singaporeans. It is what it is targetted because of some self serving purpose. If you have a spoilt brat to run the country of course things will go downwards.
fact: we always overpaid them. ![]()
what's the repurcussion to put a immediate stop on importing any foreign labor? and just operate base on what we already have today.... what's gonna happen? any idea? let's say the gov decide to do so all of a sudden.
Stop whining laa
So short sighted you cannot see your noses laa

Sgp fertility rate in 2012 is only 1.2, far below 2.1 that's required to maintain a healthy demography. What to do? Young fellas...
maybe we can let the singaporean talents try out for the jobs first before inviting foreigners to take the job .
Why do we hold foreigner in so high regards?

Don't be short sighted. What we are today is because of MNCs. Most MNCs have their APAC operations in Singapore which has given us so much employment. If MNCs have their regional operations here, you can expect there to be people from all over the world employed, otherwise they would not choose Singapore in the first place.
Our governmet has done a good job in attracting international companies of repute because of which we are able to whine and cry on the smallest things today and not appreciate it.
Look at China today. It is striving so hard to attract international companies to make Shanghai their regional / global HQ. Do you know how much tax rebate China is offering companies that they are tempted to go there? I can name at least 5-6 companies that have shut their regional office in Singapore and moved to Shanghai.
If this trend continues, our unemployment will go up and our economy will be hit. Regarding population, it is a healthy rise and the government is planning well for it. Not like other countries where population grows first and then gahment thinks what to do.
If you want to stop foreigners coming in, get more children. Have you not heard of laws of consumption and economic growth? Why is Europe in major recession today? One of the reasons is consumption has gone down as population has shrunk. Same with Japan that was a superpower at one time.
Maybe invest more time in educating yourself than whining about petty things like foreigners, and let me tell you they do make a sizeable amount of our economy and the benefits we enjoy, because they consume more, pay taxes and help the overall economy. Singapore would not be different from Malaysia if we didn't have them. Grow up!!
